How they met: “We were both working at a George Canyon concert in Antigonish, Nova Scotia,” explains Erin.

Engagement story: “Erin is a French teacher and was doing a two-week course in the Magdalen Islands off the coast of Cape Breton, near Halifax,” Matthew recalls. “Five days in, I showed up unexpectedly at her door with our two dogs in the car. I had rented a motel just ten minutes away and planned to stay for the weekend. We took our first trip together, to the Magdalen Islands, five years earlier so I thought it was the perfect place to propose. That first night it was pouring rain so we stayed in the motel. While she was playing with the dogs, I held the ring up to her and asked her to marry me and she said ‘absolutely’.”
