A Dreamy Nature-Inspired Wedding In Toronto
About the couple
Bride: Katie Lofquist
Groom: Jordan Dow
How they met: “We met 10 years ago in university, however I was ‘off limits’ (as Jordan says) as I was dating a friend of his,” explains Katie. “In early 2009, we bumped into each other in the foyer of our condo and learned we coincidentally lived in the same building. After chatting for a few moments I continued on to my home. When I left, the doorman insisted Jordan ask me out saying in a very thick accent, ‘That girl: very nice. You ask her out and you’ll be married.’ While the doorman’s credentials were very questionable, he definitely knew what he was talking about in this situation.”
Engagement story: “Jordan had been planning a special weekend getaway for my birthday. I was not allowed to know any of the specific details except that I was to bring a list of items that included a belt, a bathing suit, a small shovel, goggles and running shoes for walking in mud. I could not figure out what this weekend entailed and packing was certainly a challenge,” Katie recalls. “When Jordan picked me up on my birthday, he informed me that we were going skydiving and that the packing list was just to throw me off. After picking my stomach off the floor, I prepared myself for this terrifying experience and put on a brave face. To my surprise, I was getting quite excited about the whole experience, but I noticed that Jordan had become oddly quiet. I assumed he was regretting his great idea to jump 15,000 feet from a plane. Little did I know, he was actually panicking about jumping 15,000 feet with a diamond ring in his pocket. Once we were in the plane, Jordan and his instructor jumped first and I followed with my instructor about two minutes later. We jumped right as the sun was setting, it was stunning. When I landed, Jordan was standing there waiting for me. As I got up from the land, he got down on one knee and proposed. Without hesitation, I said ‘yes!’”
