Best moment: “We made a Twitter hashtag for our wedding (#kiggerman) and encouraged our friends and family to document the wedding for us through social media,” says Samantha. “We may be one of the only weddings to have trended on Twitter in Toronto. It was great to know that those who weren’t able to be with us could still be a part of our day online. It was so much fun to relive our wedding the next day as we went through all the posts and photos.”

Favourite detail: “We settled on loukoumades or ‘honey balls’ from Athens Pastries instead of a traditional wedding cake,” explains Samantha. “These are a staple at any gathering we have with our friends, and we were excited to share them with the rest of our guests. Two days before the wedding, we ordered 24 dozen, and by the end of the evening, there were maybe three dozen left so they were a huge hit.”

Wedding song: “You and I” by Ingrid Michaelson. “We had a few requirements for our song: it had to be fun, upbeat, and short,” says Samantha.

Honeymoon: Quick getaway to Sir Sam’s Inn and Water Spa on Eagle Lake, and then two weeks in Maui.
