How they met: “We met at a work event,” explains Melanie.

Engagement story: “One of the earliest dates we had was supposed to be a quick coffee date at my apartment, but it turned into eight hours of food, wine, chatting about everything and swapping songs we loved instead,” Melanie recalls. “Paul proposed to me in that same spot over a glass of the same wine with our favourite band playing. He had hidden the ring box under the ottoman and in one swift movement, he was on his knee. I thought my heart was going to stop. He had called my parents that day to ask for permission and planned it so my mum was in town that evening. After the proposal, my family showed up with a bottle of champagne to celebrate.”
