An Elegant West Coast Wedding
About the couple
Bride: Emery Truscott
Groom: Jesse Truscott
How they met: “When Jesse and I first met we lived in different cities and were introduced by a mutual friend/family member,” explains Emery. “It was probably the best and the worst timing. I had a flight booked to move across country the next month and as Jesse was in the Navy, he was scheduled to depart in three weeks for three months. We immediately connected and found ourselves joking around at the end of the night about getting married and how many kids we’d have together. Little did I know, it would come true almost four years later! I never took that flight, but Jesse still went away for 3 months. We spent every available moment writing, talking and growing our relationship from a distance.”
Engagement story: “It was a few days before my birthday and I noticed Jesse had been acting a bit suspicious. He showed up at my work with flowers that afternoon and surprised me with a manicure at a spa. I thought how great to get a bit of pre-birthday pampering,” Emery recalls. “We ended the evening with a nice dinner and a walk around town, but I couldn’t figure out why Jesse was spoiling me like this…especially since it was still a few days before my actual birthday. The next day, I received a call from Jesse claiming that there was a problem with the car and he was sorry he wouldn’t be able to pick me up from work. It wasn’t a long walk for me, but as I left I got caught in a heavy downpour. The rain would not stop, and before I knew it I was absolutely drenched. I was dripping wet as I got home and walked inside. I soon discovered that Jesse was already home! I saw a beautiful candles and rose petals everywhere! Jesse helped me with my coat, and offered me a towel to dry off. He felt awful that he had to lie to me and that I got caught in the storm on my way. As I glanced around the corner I saw a tall vase with many long stemmed roses and a framed photo of us from when we first met . He had prepared an incredible spread of food and the champagne was chilling on the table. I was so stunned at all of the effort that went into making everything so special. He got down on one knee and presented the ring box. In that moment my mind went blank. I had to ask him to repeat all of the beautiful words he had just said so that I could remember them the second time around. I replied with ‘OF COURSE, YES!’”
