How they met: “We met while spring breaking in Cancun, Mexico in 2005. We were both from the same town, on the same flight and staying at the same hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel, all the guests were shown to their rooms except for our two parties. We were the only 4 guests left in the lobby and decided to have a few drinks together while we waited on our rooms. We have been together since that day,” says Agnes.

Engagement story: “After four and a half years together we had both completed university, and Richard had returned home for a short visit after being away for one full year training with the Canadian Army on the east coast. I had an inkling that Richard was going to propose,” Agnes confesses. “Early in the morning we set off to go on an air balloon trip, which unfortunately was cancelled due to strong winds. We went back home to bed and then spent the afternoon mini-golfing and paddle boating. Then Richard said we were going out for a surprise dinner. I thought this was it! Dinner came and went, and by the end of the date I thought I was mistaken. Saddened, upon getting home I went straight to the bedroom to change into sweatpants! Upon entering the room I was shocked to see rose pedals scattered throughout the room (which Richard had his best friend set-up while we were out for dinner). Richard followed me in and proposed then and there, and I said ‘yes!’”
