An Elegant Blue And White Fall Wedding In Old Montreal
About the couple
Bride: Valerie Windsor
Groom: James Cahill
How they met: “We actually met through friends. I’m from Toronto originally and moved to Montréal in the summer of 2005,” explains Valerie. “We had a few mutual friends and kept running into each other. A few months later, I was going to a New Year’s Eve party with some mutual friends and James ended up coming with us. I actually forced him to come because I was going to be a third wheel at this party. We ended up having such a great time and laughing so much that we’ve been together ever since.”
Engagement story: “It was New Year’s Eve for 2011 and James had this plan to propose at midnight in Old Montreal during the fireworks outside after dinner,” Valerie recalls. “However at 11:00pm, it started to rain hard and standing outside was out of the question. So we decided to switch venues and catch a taxi to see friends on St. Laurent. He thought his plan was ruined, so at the last moment he suggested we grab shelter while we waited for a taxi. It was then that he started to talk about that it had been five years since our first New Year’s Eve together and that he loved me very much. At that moment I had a funny feeling, and then he pulled the ring out of his jacket pocket and asked me to be his wife. It was perfect. New Year’s Eve will forever be a special day in our lives.”
