About the couple
Bride: Krystle Pak
Groom: Ken Kwan
How they met: “We met at a mutual friend’s end of high school barbecue,” explains Krystle. “We were both dating other people at the time, but somehow we kept in touch throughout the years. About four years after meeting, when we were both single, we started spending more time together and eventually began our relationship.”
Engagement story: “In the summer of 2010 we went on a group trip with friends to Whistler,” Krystle recalls. “At the end of the weekend, before driving home, Ken suggested that we go visit Shannon Falls because we had recently purchased a DSLR camera and he wanted to test it out and take pictures. When we arrived at the falls he was acting very sweet and telling me how much he loved me and why. I thought this was cute, but also very out of the blue. We snapped some shots of the falls and I said to Ken ‘okay, we’ve taken some pictures, let’s go home now.’ Ken got up and and pointed towards some trees and suggested that we take pictures of them. He asked me to take a picture of the top of this very tall tree and after I took the shot, he asked me to take a picture of the bottom of the tree. I thought this was weird. I looked towards the bottom of the tree and saw a box with the ring inside. I was completely and utterly surprised. Then Ken got a hold of the box and bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Through my tears, I said ‘YES’, of course!”
