Wedding date: July 23, 2011
Wedding theme: Vintage “flea-market find” theme
Guests: 150
Best moment: “There are so many to choose from! I think the very best moment was when I first started walking down the aisle. I know this sounds cliché, but until that moment I had been so worried about all the details that it didn’t even seem like I was at my wedding. As soon as I started down the aisle I just relaxed. It all seemed so easy from that point on. Jesse was waiting for me at the end of the aisle and that was all that mattered,” says Heather.
Favourite detail: “My absolute favourite detail was the tiered cupcake stands my mum and I made from vintage china plates glued onto brass candlesticks. Scouring the local thrift shops and flea markets for the plates with my mum and soon to be mother-in-law was amazingly fun! I made smaller versions of the cake stands with teacup plates and gave them to my bridesmaids to use as jewelry holders,” explains Heather.
Wedding song: “Bless The Broken Road” by Rascall Flatts. “A few nights before the wedding we realized that we hadn’t picked any of our songs. I had always thought this would be a big deal and that we’d know months in advance, but we’d honestly just forgotten. Jesse left for his bachelor party and I knew he would be out of commission for a while. My sister and I came up with one of our favourite songs instead. Jesse was happy with it, though I suspect he was mainly happy that he didn’t have to participate in the choosing,” Heather says.
