About the couple
Bride: Lori Denning
Groom: Ryan Walker
How they met: “This is not the classiest story, but a good one. Ryan and I met at a bar I was working at in Montreal. I was a waitress and he was there with a group of friends from school. He dropped his beer on the floor and I picked it up to throw it out. As I was walking to throw the beer in the garbage he got my attention so I turned around. He told me that the beer was “still good” and took it away from me. He then proceeded to drink the beer that had just fallen on the floor. I don’t know why I gave him my number that night, but I am glad I did,” Lori confesses.
Engagement story: “I have always loved the SkyWheel in Niagara Falls. It is a giant ferris wheel that overlooks the city. I had brought Ryan there the first time he came to visit my parents. It’s beautiful and you can see the whole city of Niagara Falls lit up and the fireworks at night,” explains Lori. “Ryan had planned for us to go out for a nice dinner in Niagara Falls. I knew something was going on because Ryan never plans anything. I was eating my meal so slowly praying that I would not swallow the ring if he had put it in my food. But by the end of the meal I still hadn’t found a ring. I was slightly disappointed. We got in the car and were leaving to go back home. We passed the SkyWheel and he asked if I would like to stop and go for a ride. Ryan hid champagne and glasses and brought them with him to the top of the ferris wheel. When we were all the way at the top, he turned on his cell phone. It had a picture of our two puppies and was playing one of our favorite songs. He got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. It was magical!”
