About the couple
Bride: Bonnie Yu
Groom: Jose-Noel El Khaiat
How they met: “We met in our GMAT prep class, I went to pursue my MBA after that, but he didn’t. However, he said that $300 tuition fee was the best investment he ever made because of me,” says Bonnie.
Engagement story: “On his birthday, Jose told me that he had wanted to try out a new bakery his coworkers had told him about. He picked up a cake from the bakery, and we went to a nice restaurant to have dinner and Jose’s birthday cake. As the waiter brought out the cake and put it in front of me, I thought, “No, it’s not my birthday. Put the cake in front of my boyfriend.” It was only at that point that I could see that the cake was wrapped in red fondant and had a silver high heel shoe on the top and a sugar plate with a message that read “Will you marry your prince?” I was so surprised that Jose had proposed on his own birthday, and with a canary diamond, similar to the one in one of my favourite movies, Wall Street,” explains Bonnie.
