A Quirky Cocktail Party Wedding In Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
About the couple
Bride: Jennifer Margach
Groom: Bryce Thoma
How they met: “It’s a funny thing, how two people can be so close to each other for years, yet never meet. Our entire lives were spent intertwined in some way, always just missing each other. We have numerous mutual friends, pictures from high school with both of us at the same party, in the same picture. We played across the street from each other as kids and went to the same church, yet for whatever reason, our paths didn’t cross until six years ago. We believe that in some weird way we were brought together when we were both ready,” says Jennifer.
Engagement story: “Our engagement happened on a regular Sunday. Bryce had to coach hockey, I went to a spin class, grabbed groceries and we decided on sushi for supper. Nothing out of the ordinary. When we got home from dinner, Bryce took our dog, Ruby, outside. Then he took Ruby outside again. And then again,” explains Jennifer. “After the fourth time I finally said to him, ‘Obviously she doesn’t have to poop if she isn’t going’ and then he took her outside yet again. This time though when he came back in the house he told me that she had gotten away and that some other dog in the alley had bitten her. In tears, I was checking my dog over from head to toe making sure she was okay, and that is when I saw it; Tied to a pink ribbon…the ring. I was absolutely speechless. I started to cry, and it was probably the first time in my entire life I was without words. Bryce then got down on one knee and I still couldn’t speak. There was no better way for it to happen then at home, just the two of us, with Ruby as the accomplice.”
