Guests: 165
Budget: $30,000-35,000
Best moment: “I would say walking down the aisle (or rather, descending down the staircase) at the Timm’s Centre. I was so excited and giddy for multiple reasons. I could not wait to see how the ceremony site had been transformed into a whimsical, feathery dream, I was ecstatic to see so many important people, from every walk of life, in the crowd, waiting for me, and I was about to get married! It was an overwhelming feeling of being loved that is unlike anything else. To have so many amazing people looking towards Cam and I with so much support and happiness was unbelievable, one of the best moments of my life. This is the moment of our day that I re-live over and over again in my mind,” says Megan.
Wedding song: “Godan Daginn” by Sigur Ros. “It was tough to choose a song that had meaning for both Cam and I. Cam is unbelievably passionate about music, and tends to favour that which is unknown and underrated. I, on the other hand, like top 40. It’s true when they say opposites attract! After much discussion back and forth, we had our first dance song choice narrowed down to two favorites. ‘All My Days’ by Alexi Murdock and ‘Godan Daginn’ by Sigur Ros. At the end of the day, Sigur Ros just seemed to fit the best, and we were able to learn an awesome Ramba to the strumming of a Steel guitar. We decided to use Alexi Murdoch for our first look, which worked perfectly,” explains Megan.
Favourite detail: “We spent hours (probably over 40 hours in total) making really adorable wedding wands for our ceremony. The wands included crocheted flowers, buttons, bells, and ribbon strands, and were waved by our guests during our first kiss and the announcement of us as a couple. It was so fabulous to see all of our family and friends enthusiastically waving these wands that we spent so many hours making in celebration of our big moment. It was definitely one of the details that paid off,” explains Megan. “I also loved our centerpieces. We started collecting books, birdcages, and vases well over a year before our wedding. We had so many people assisting us (for example: the groom’s mom was constantly visiting used bookstores and my bridesmaids continuously checked thrift stores.) It was just a fabulous team effort! My mom repeatedly set up “mock” tables in her basement and arranged all of the items to make sure we had exactly the right amount of detail, but not enough to overwhelm the tables. It took many people and a lot of time to make sure we had what we loved without spending a fortune, but I was absolutely thrilled with how the centerpieces looked on the wedding day. The room set up literally brought me to tears. It was perfect.”
