How they met: “We originally met in 2000 at a gym where I was a personal trainer and he was a member,” says Kendra. “We went our separate ways until we re-connected in 2007 at a bar through mutual friends. We exchanged numbers and he called to ask me out on a date.”

Engagement story: “It was the G20 weekend and we decided to escape the city,” says Kendra. “We went up to my parents’ cottage in Haliburton to spend a quiet weekend fishing and swimming. We were relaxing on the dock on the Saturday night waiting for the sunset. We had opened a bottle of champagne with my parents to celebrate the completion of the kitchen renovation. One by one they each left me alone on the dock. Nothing seemed weird as my mother went to check on dinner and my father went to get the camera for the sunset. Steve went to the ‘washroom’ and came back in a full, custom-made suit. He walked toward me and it didn’t click in what was happening until he was down on one knee with an outstretched box. I was completely blown away and shocked.”
