A Woodsy Vintage Wedding In Caledon, Ontario
Wedding date: October 16, 2010
Wedding theme: Woodsy romantic
Guests: 100
Best moment: “The ‘first look’ reveal we did in the courtyard before the ceremony (as formal pictures took place beforehand). It was the most pivotal and emotional moment in our lives to date: Just the two of us, the setting sun and our first embrace on the most important day of our lives,” says Lia. “The other amazing moment was the exchange of our vows, which we wrote ourselves. At the reception, so many of our guests told us how beautiful and special our vows were for each other, which was lovely to hear.”
Wedding song: “No One’s Gonna Love You” by Band of Horses. “We love Band of Horses and even though the meaning of the song isn’t perfect for a wedding song, the melody and the various crescendos really speak to us and there really wasn’t any other song we wanted to consider because it’s just so ‘us,’” says Lia.
Favourite wedding detail: “Probably the custard colour of my dress,” says Lia. “Growing up I had a yellow dress that I refused to take off for quite some time (a story which was told at the wedding by my mother) and I always knew I wanted to wear a soft blush of a colour at my wedding: My mother had worn a pale pink in the 70s and I wanted to do something similar. With my history of yellow dresses, a more sophisticated, pale yellow colour was the perfect choice for the custom gown.”
Honeymoon: Koh Samui, Thailand
