How they met: 22 years ago John was visiting friends in London and walked by the West End theatre where “Les Miserables” was playing. They looked over the marquee pictures and John pointed to Anthony (who was an actor in the show at the time) and said, “That one. I want that one.” They’ve been together ever since.

Engagement story: The couple says they decided to get married after attending a friend’s same-sex wedding at which they realized they could create whatever manner of ceremony and party they wanted. Previously, they were afraid they’d be trapped in traditions and customs that didn’t suit them. Once they realized they could personalize every element, there was no stopping them.
