Blooms for your Budget

Flowers are a beautiful part of both the ceremony and reception but, as I realized when planning my own wedding, can also be a spot where costs can add up if you’re not careful!  The good news? You don’t need to sacrifice quantity or quality to get a fantastic wedding bouquet.  With the help of friends at Trillium Floral Designs,  I’ve designed two similar fall wedding bouquets for different budgets.  Now it’s up to you to decide whether to save or splurge!

Save: $100 – $125

This striking bouquet features:

  • - large red gerbera daisies
  • - yellow lilies
  • - orange alstroemeria
  • - green trachelium
  • - burgundy daisies

Although some of the flowers themselves can be costly, using larger flowers like gerbera daisies creates a full look with less flowers, helping reduce the cost.  By focusing on colour palettes instead of specific flowers, you can still have a fresh, contemporary fall look for less.

SPLURGE: $170-185

Our second bouquet uses the same fall colours showing off stunning, in season flowers.  Specifically:

  • - yellow cymbidium orchids
  • - cranberry calla lilies
  • - orange spray roses
  • - pin cushion proteas
  • - berzillia berries.

Unlike the first option, you can see that smaller flowers were used. More of them are needed to fill a bouquet and as a result, the price goes up.

TIP: Have Your Cake and Eat it Too

If you’re a bride who’s in love with orchids, roses and calla lilies, you have two choices:  Either prioritize your bouquet within your wedding budget and decide to splurge (this may mean saving in another area like favours) or, get creative and work with your florist to find the right balance of your favorite flowers, colour palettes and budget.  For example, if orchids or callas are an absolute must, consider using just a few blooms prominently displayed in your bouquet.  Then use less expensive flowers in your colour palette to create the fullness you desire.
