Home-Made Beauty Concoctions?
I remember the day I first heard about at-home beauty treatments. I was in grade four and the girls in my class had mentioned that if you squeeze lemons into your hair and sit under the sun for a few hours your hair will instantly lighten up and look shiny. Did I try it? Of course, I did. I wanted to see it work–and silly me I also believed it too. Looking back, I still laugh at the idea of me sitting in our backyard with lemon-dripped hair wrapped in saran wrap–oh what a sight it was for my mom. But, as I grew older I quickly learned about home-made products that actually delivered on their promise. For example, the whole brown sugar mixed with honey and a bit of lemon juice was a must-have during high school–it left my skin feeling soft. Oh, and who could forget the Avocado masks!
Anywho, I’d love to hear your recipes or idea that you’ve heard or tried for at-home beauty treatments! Please share.

I love trying at home beauty stuff too! I have a homemade exfoliating scrub that rivals even bought ones and its WAAAY cheaper. Just use a mixture 2 parts white sugar to 1 part olive oil. It’s easy and works really well!
Nodular acne, lots of people get it on their chest & neck, I started to see some reddish small bumps, and looked online and saw a home remedy. You take Flax seeds, grind them up, add enough hot water to make a paste/gel (turns more like a gel) and when it’s warm enough to put on your skin, slather on, and let it sit for 20 mins, then rinse it off. I did see the bumps shrink a little and the redness lighten alot..Just beware, you will have to clean the tub/shower when you are done!
Also for pimples, dampen a cotton ball in very warm water, squeeze out excess water and sprinkle salt on it, apply to pimple with medium pressure, this will bring the white puss substance to the surface to pop.
Ack! I’m totally doing a blog post on this in a couple of weeks! I refuse to say anything further, haha :)
What a funny post! I grew up hearing quite a bit about Filipino home remedies and here are a few: brush your teeth and gums with salt for white teeth and healthy gums, apply Colgate brand toothpaste to pimples to make them go away and coconut oil to your hair for luxuriously soft and silky hair.
Tried the salt one and couldn’t get used to using it for more than a day to see if it would work. The Colgate one I tried out of desperation yet didn’t really see a major difference from using Neutrogena and the coconut oil DID work, although you’d have to live with greasy looking hair if you applied too much.
LOL! What a fun post :).
