Canada’s Prettiest Cakes
Cake by Kate Green Cakes in Ottawa
From the designer: "My inspiration was to create a modern rococo feel for this wedding cake. Marie Antoinette and Paris are always popular theme requests and I love the prettiness and elegance of that era, but I wanted to honour today’s less ornate aesthetic. I incorporated the Toile de Jouy print (so popular during that time period), and the gorgeous swagged crystals to echo the ornate chandeliers and opulent interiors. I then countered this with an updated clean simplicity and fresh colour palette of turquoise, lime and white. I love the play between linear and soft, pretty and striking – also turquoise and lime is one of my favourite colour combinations. I was catering to the sophisticated yet playful bride who wants something different, and thinks outside of the box."
