Bride & Groom Candy Apples

Photography Carlo Mendoza. Last week I was calling in tons of delicious treats that were going to be shot for an upcoming Sweet Dictionary slideshow. Each letter needed to have a corresponding treat and let’s just say Q, X and Z weren’t the easiest. However, we did find some good ones, but you’ll have to wait until the Sweet Dictionary launches in April before you find out what sweet is going with each letter! I promise some will surprise! When it came to the letter “A” we knew right away it had to be candy apples. The first place that came to mind was Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Every time I stroll by their store, it’s filled with dozens of flavours and styles of candy apples (amongst other deliciousness – like fudge and caramel corn). Lucky for me, there is a Rocky Mountain store close to work at the Eaton Centre, so I literally had the pick of the crop at my fingertips. When I arrived at the store, there were a barrel of apples being dipped in caramel by the store’s owner, Brian. Looking closely at the treats in the display case I wanted to be sure we selected the prettiest of the bunch (picky I know, but hey we’re shooting these!). I told Brian what my plans were and instead he said he’d make them fresh on the spot! Not only that he told me they often design special candy apples for the bride and groom. Next thing I knew they were creating them for me too! The apples are so pretty and would definitely look lovely on a dessert table!

If you’re thinking of doing candy apples for your wedding, you can specially order through your nearest Rocky Mountain shop (they’re located all over Canada), smallest apples are probably better if you want a table of them, but you can definitely get them dipped and drizzled in much more than caramel! We also love the Skor bits too.
