Tea Time
Last week I, along with my editors Roseanne, Sara and Catherine, had the pleasure of stopping for a few hours during the afternoon to indulge in the tradition of high tea at a gorgeous event planned by the tabletop experts at Wedgwood. About 50 editors were treated to this age-old English tradition at Toronto’s King Edward hotel, where we sipped a classic black-tea brew from Jasper Conran White bone-china teacups (tea really does taste better from a china cup!) and enjoyed finger sarnies, scones and teeny sweet treats.
Tea is one of my favourite occasions, so much so that I have an annual tea party for the Weddingbells edit team at my house every fall. It’s the type of party that’s super-easy to host, low-cost (no alcohol required) and fun for people to come to, as it only requires a few hours of their time in the afternoon. Wedgwood obviously is hip to the beauty of the tea party, too, as they have recently introduced some beautiful tea sets from the Johnson Brothers’ line, all featuring traditional English patterns like Blue Willow (which I actually have in my kitchen) packaged in charming little hat boxes—I think these would make a perfect thank-you gift for your girls! At the event, we also got to take a peek at other teacups, pots and other pieces from some of Wedgwood’s other gorgeous patterns—the new London Collection is a standout as is anything by Vera Wang, Barbara Barry or Jasper Conran. If you haven’t picked your registry pattern yet, peruse a few of these to find the one at wedgwood.com. And on the registry note, I’m off to New York to view the Spring 2008 tabletop collections! I’ll be on hiatus from the blog until Friday, November 2nd, and will dish a full show report on Monday, November 5th.
