Montreal Love-In

Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal
John and Yoko had their famous “Bed-in for Peace” in 1969 at this downtown Montreal hotel and while I definitely think it’s worth your time to cozy up in one of the suites (maybe the legendary #1742), you must also take time to explore this chic and romantic city. I’m off to Montreal this weekend and while I won’t be spending it recording hippie anthems at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, à la John and Yoko, instead I’ll be checking out the Jazz Fest and possibly some other celeb-worthy spots I recently discovered.
Last time Angelina Jolie was in town, she stayed at the historic Hotel Le Saint James, a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World, located in Old Montreal. It would be a charming and decadent spot to book your honeymoon. Plus the hotels offers on site spa services, a fine-dining restaurant and its also steps away from the charming and European-flavoured cobbled streets lined with cafés, boutiques and historic buildings.

If sampling some smoked meat is on the agenda then make it Schwartz’s. According to the buzz is every celebrity from the Stones, Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry come here.
We hope shopping is on the to-do list because you’ll find ample shops and boutiques to suit your budget and taste. Hit St. Laurent Boulevard, for one-of-a-kind shops, brand-name apparel and vintage finds. According to the Montreal Mirror this is the number one place you’re likely to see a famous face!
Where do the stars eat when they’re here? Buonanotte is on the top of the list. Everyone from Bono, to Gisele Bündchen and Nicolas Cage has dined here. Want proof? A part of the decor is a collection of 300 plates painted by celebrity diners.
Have you been to Montreal? What are some of your favourite spots? Tell me!
