I just tried to email my engagement story to the email listed in the article and it wouldn’t deliver it from my hotmail account. Please help.
This may not be the most romantic story to everyone, but what it means to me, is the world. I have been in love with Aaron since i was 14. We started dating when we were in grade 9. We have gone through so much over the years, and the hardest situation we’ve had to deal with was his leaving for Afganistan which lasted for 9 months. It was the longest 9 months of my life. I would go weeks without even talking to him, so when i’d get the 3am phone call, it was like Christmas day! He made it back safe and sound back in May! A few short months after that we decided to move in together. I moved 8 hours away from my home to be with him, and haven’t regretted it since. We often don’t get to go home, so its usually a treat when we do. The first night in our appartment, aaron put on my favourite song and we danced to it over and over. I don’t want to miss a thing, by aerosmith. He always makes comments about things he’s missed and doesnt want to miss again, birthday’s, anniversaries, etc. I spent a months wondering when the ring was going to come. I always hoped he’d wait till we were closer to home to propose, as I would rather tell my family and friends in person. Well Christmas eve came, and we were home for the holidays. We made dinner reservations at our favourite resturant. Once dinner was done and i left the table for a few minutes, when i came back. Aaron had switched seats. He was on the chair at the end. I never thought anything of it. He asked me to sit down, he said he was still too stuffed. I sat down and we started talking. He started his proposal saying. “I love you, and so happy to be with you, but i’ve missed so much over the past 4 years being in the military. I’ve missed your birthday, and i don’t want to miss that again. I’ve missed our anniversaries, and i don’t want to do that again. I don’t want to go any other morning without waking up to you. I don’t want to miss any more lazy weekends, or movie marathons, or weekends with your neices. I’m done missing everything, and thats why…” And thats when he got down on one knee and showed me the ring. He cried and i cried…i couldn’t speak for hours. It was the most romantic thing to me because he knew all the things we were missing out on, and right there said he wanted nothing else but to be there with me during everything. That was my romantic proposal, and we will be married in a year!
Well, I can’t say it’s the most romantic, but I wouldn’t change a thing! Greg and I had been dating since grade 10. We did break up a couple times, but some how always ended up back together. Fast forward 4 years after graduation (7 years together), We were climbing into bed one night and I asked when we were going to get married, in which he replied “Well, not this year, because Glenn & Vanessa are getting married (nice excuse hey?), so, next year”
I then kind of was taken aback, and asked if he was serious, which, yes he was! FINALLY! WE WERE GETTING MARRRIED! He then sent me on a quest to find rings I liked. I use the term quest as I really couldn’t find anything I liked, Then I found it, the perfect ring! We then went on holidays, stopped at the jeweller, and it was ordered! After the ‘two week’ mark passed, I didn’t think it would ever show up. Until one day, Greg came home from work and snuggled up on the couch with me, practically squishing me, and I asked him to move, he did, he sat up, and just kind of sat there, staring at me, and I finally asked “What do you want” He held out the ring and asked if I wanted it, I teared up, said yes, he slide it on my finger, and that was that. Oh, wait, we had a quick smooch and back to work he went, (He came home, from work, knowing he had to go back to work, just to ‘propose’) Like I said, not romantic to most, but it’s our story and I wouldn’t change a thing!
