Emmy Pick: Claire Danes

At last night’s Emmy awards Claire Danes took home a trophy in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie category for her portrayal of Temple Grandin, and she couldn’t have been more perfectly attired for her big moment in the spotlight. Danes, who has definitely come a long way since her days as a troubled teenage redhead on My So Called Life, dazzled in a sparkly, glamorous Armani Privé gown. This show-stopping dress fit her like a glove, and I applaud her for keeping her accessories to a minimum—with a frock that fabulous you don’t need much else! Let that be a lesson for your wedding day, too. If your gown has lots of detail (crystals, rosettes, etc.), make sure the rest of your look is sleek and sophisticated. Also, take a cue from Danes when it comes to hair and makeup—she paired soft waves with dramatic eyes and shimmery neutral tones, and I daresay this “face” would be totally aisle-appropriate for you!
