Colour Query
Pretty in pink; Love by Enzoani.
As you can imagine, we get lots of reader questions here at Weddingbells, and we try our best to answer them. In fact, there’s nothing we love more than helping you track down your dream dress or the perfect pair of shoes. I recently received an interesting fashion query from Ann, so I’d like to dedicate this post to her! Ann’s daughter is getting married in August, and they’re having a devil of a time deciding on a colour for the bridesmaids’ dresses. The bride’s dress is ivory with a bit of a gold hue, and the notion of chocolate brown for the ladies had been discussed. Pale lavender had also come up in conversation. However, my suggestion was dusty rose or some other soft shade of pink. Since the bride’s gown isn’t stark white, it’s essential to keep the rest of the tones in the same warm colour palette. Pink complements ivory/gold nicely, and is appropriate for a summer wedding (I’m afraid brown just might be too dark, and I’m picturing the maids melting in the midday sun!). I like that colour, also what about a satiny caramel-beige type colour? (Like in that episode of Friends where the girls were in bridesmaid dresses and Rachel found out she was pregnant – or am I thinking of Sex & the City?) I think that would look lovely, and it’s nice and light enough to not be too bold for a summer wedding :)
