Pearly White

Junko Yoshioka
It’s high season here at Weddingbells, and I’m busy putting the finishing touches on my runway report for our next issue (on newsstands in July), which got me thinking about all the trends I didn’t have room to include! One such trend is pearls.

Pearl Detail
Several bridal designers adorned dresses with pearls instead of crystals. This form of embellishment feels fresh and modern, and I love the subtle effect pearls create. Sometimes you have to get right up close to truly appreciate all that elegant detailing! And, for those of you who have already chosen your gown, consider incorporating pearls in another way. Multiple strands in different lengths are a fabulous way to take a simple dress to the next level. I say, pile ’em on, oh, and don’t worry if they’re faux!

Piles of pearls at Douglas Hannant
What do you think of pearls for the big day? Would you consider either of these looks, or do you prefer keeping things classic with a simple strand at the neck? I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
