An Undercover Proposal Shoot in Victoria, B.C.
What sort of locations work best for this type of shoot?
“The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you don’t want your photographer to be noticed, so choosing a spot where they won’t stick out like a sore thumb is important,” explains Wiltshire. “The spot featured in this shoot only worked because it’s a popular hiking location so it was believable that there could be another person taking a break and enjoying the view from one of the platforms on the tressel. Realistically, countless locations could work; A restaurant/coffee shop, a beach, a favourite walking trail… I’ve even done an undercover proposal shoot in the middle of a ski run at Mount Washington! As long as you position yourselves right you can get away with nearly anything. You just want to make sure that your photographer has a clear view of what is happening while still being far enough away to not reveal their presence.”
