Kite

Notes from the photographer: “I love incorporating props into photo shoots, particularly engagement sessions. These types of shoots can become very playful and fun, and adding a few props and accessories can bring out personality and candid moments. I like to encourage my clients to think of personal hobbies or inside jokes that they share together that can be tied in. For the session with the kite, the couple had actually flown a kite on one of their first dates. They also love anything vintage and handmade, so the night before the engagement shoot they created the kite together from cloth, wood dowels, etc. I love to shoot back-lit to get the beautiful soft sun, so I had them running towards me, away from the sun. Since it was a fabric kite, it couldn’t fly, so I just had them run with it while holding it. Of course I had them do several takes, since between running shots and working with the sun flare, you get a lot of outtakes. But it was well worth it!”
