Dinner for Two

{Welcome to The French Laundry, Yountville, California.)

At Weddingbells we believe your honeymoon should be all about YOU. Meaning you and your groom. Your trip, of course, should be tailored around your likes and personalized to experiences you both want to share. For some it’s adventure, for others its sun and surf. For me and my husband, it was heading to California for a total food and wine experience. A trip of a lifetime, we filled our itinerary with wine tours, local restaurants, markets and a stop in San Francisco. But our biggest and most exciting addition to the itinerary came when we received confirmation of our reservation at The French Laundry! Foodies out there know it’s a tough reservation to get as bookings for the 62 seats open two months to the day and are often completely taken within the first hour. So you can imagine how excited we were to know we would be dining there on our first day as Mr. & Mrs. Read the rest of this entry »

Acqualina Resort & Spa: Wedding on the Beach

If you’re looking for a Caribbean atmosphere without leaving the continent, another sunny destination to consider is South Florida’s Sunny Isles Beach. Just north of the party scene of South Beach Miami, Sunny Isles is quieter and more refined destination, still offering the amazing accommodations, dining and shopping that you’ll find in South Beach, minus the tourist traps and overcrowded beaches. So where do you plan your destination wedding? Well, there are a lot of high quality hotels along the ocean, but the one that tops them all is the award-winning Acqualina Resort & Spa. Honeymoons by Small Luxury Hotels of the World

{The Viceroy in Bali}

In need of some inspiration for your honeymoon? If so, I suggest you check out the recently launched Honeymoon program designed by the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The program features a collection of different trips packaged together, so all of the planning is essentially done for you. Another bonus is that many of the SLH properties are included, so you can design a multi-city or country packaged honeymoon (particularly useful if you’re Europe bound!). Imagine taking a road trip through Italy in a convertible and then spending the night in a rustic farmhouse at Case Del Borgo in Tuscany. Or hiding away at the secluded Viceroy Bali tucked away in the Lembah Valley, and then watching the sunrise at a volcano. Or even enjoying a spa treatment in the world’s first underwater spa in the Maldives. The possibilities for that dream trip of a lifetime are endless! Below are some pictures of a small selection of hotels that are part of the SLH collection. You can book online at slh.com or even through their new free iPhone app! Read the rest of this entry »

First Lighthouse Wedding at St. Lucia Resort

This past September, the first couple ever was married at the historic Cap Moule à Chique Lighthouse in St. Lucia. Organized by the Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa, Wanda and Stephen Vajdas from Pennsylvania won the wedding as part of a contest put on by the resort and Jasmine Bridal. The prize included airfare, accommodations, the ceremony, gowns for the bridal party, spa treatments, island excursions, wedding reception and a honeymoon at the resort. The lighthouse, which is exclusive to the resort, was built in 1912 and sits 745 feet about the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Destination Wedding Tips

The Royal Playa del Carmen

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend my first destination wedding. The wedding was in Mexico, at the Royal Playa del Carmen, an all-inclusive resort. The only other time I have been to an all-inclusive was during my stay at the El Dorado in the Riviera Maya. The resort was on a gorgeous beach, had a fantastic spa and tons of dining options. It wasn’t an intimate destination, say compared to Turks and Caicos. The pool and beach were always packed with people and during my stay I probably saw at least 7 brides (mind you it was also 10/10/10).

My favourite thing about the wedding I attended was the details the bride and groom put into their celebration. Read the rest of this entry »

The Ultimate Honeymoon: Badrutt’s Palace, Switzerland

{Badrutt’s Palace Hotel}

This summer I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful country of Switzerland. It was my first time to Europe and definitely won’t be my last. What struck me most about Switzerland was how beautiful the landscape is. The snow-capped mountains (yes, even in summer) literally made you think you’re looking like a painting. Then you have cute villages with gingerbread-like homes, pristine lakes, and bustling cities (like Zurich and Basel). I didn’t have the chance to visit the luxe and legendary destination of St. Moritz, known for its skiing, as much as it is known for its notable guests (think royalty and celebrities), but think it would be a perfect honeymoon destination. So where do the rich and famous stay? Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is one of those places A-listers flock to and have been for decades.  Read the rest of this entry »
