A Casual Affair

When longtime customer, turned friend, emailed me late July to say that he and his girlfriend had decided to get married August 21st, it was a welcomed surprise!  We had a little over three weeks to transform their beautiful beach cottage, just three homes up from the famous beach boardwalk, and their two neighbour’s yards, into a celebration haven.

Nature lovers at heart, they wanted a casual garden party to adorn their union. The only decor specification that I was given was that there was to be lots of birch poles, making the entrances of the tents feel like a forest. All other design elements I could do what I pleased — how much fun is that!! Read the rest of this entry »

Awesome Agapanthus

Is blue your colour theme? Agapanthus is a fun and unique flower with a warm blue hue. It’s funnel-shaped florets create a firework cluster giving arrangements texture. To help show off their splendor, in this particular wedding, I designed them with import blue hydrangea and creamy Vandella roses. Read the rest of this entry »

Wreaths are Wonderful

On the front of the chapel door, on the reception windows, or hanging from the middle of the fireplace, a wreath is a classy addition that will make your guests so glad that they wore their very best wedding attire! Read the rest of this entry »

Country never looked so good!

Great long time friends of ours recently got married in the beautiful country setting of Price Edward County. They were married right beside the water under a quaint trellis, with the reception in a big beautiful red barn.

If was perfect that Melanie (a.k.a. the bride) chose mason jars as the vases, holding an elaborate, yet just like picked out of the garden mix. It even amazed me about how many stems I was able to fit into one mason jar! When you are creating this carefree look, it is imperative to use a large range of flowers. Then you naturally get a garden feel, without trying. Read the rest of this entry »

The Perfect Rose

In my humble opinion, fat open roses that squish together with no space in-between, creating a perfect sphere of flawless petals is magnificent. These are circus roses. It’s OK, you can stare. Read the rest of this entry »

The Teardrop

Photography courtesy Michelle Quance.

Want a little more drama added to your dress, without overdoing it? The classic, yet bold teardrop bouquet may be the perfect fit.

Absolutely stunning with all roses, the bouquet will make the most impact by using a single colour. This picture of my bride is from years ago, but I still adore it! The teardrop manages to be timeless and trendy without even trying.

A friendly word of caution — if you must have this bouquet, be prepared for its weight. Saying it is heavy may be an understatement! Although, I do find that adrenaline-filled brides don’t really notice, but it is still something to consider.

The CG&S McDreamy

As I’m sure you all know by now, I love, love, love whites and creams. I would even say this event could easily be our CG&S Signature wedding.

White hydrangea, lisianthus and creamy Vandella roses in a low, lush mounded design, accentuated in an exquisite footed bowl with matching hurricanes surrounding the centrepiece to boot! Read the rest of this entry »
