I talked about using scent in the home in an earlier post, which I think is a great way to add ambiance to any room in your house. When I heard about this new collaboration between Jo Malone and Farrow & Ball, I wanted to share it with all of you! For those of you who aren’t familiar, Jo Malone is a British lifestyle brand that sells products for the bath, body and home, while Farrow & Ball are expert manufactures in the paint and wallpaper business. It made complete sense the two collaborate on these gorgeous limited edition candles. Personally I love them all and could see any of them in my current place (I’m thinking the blue one in my bedroom). Read the rest of this entry »

Designer Sarah Richardson Launches Paint Collection
Designer Sarah Richardson, star of the HGTV show’s, Design Inc., Sarah’s House and Sarah’s Cottage has gone on to expand her brand into paints! In case you didn’t know, she already has a furniture collection (available in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto as of now). I’m a big fan of Richardson and have been watching the latest season of Sarah’s House (Season 3) where she is completely transforming a farmhouse into her signature style. I love how she uses glamorous details, vibrant textures and patterns, clean lines and chic pieces in her spaces. I would be a dream to have her decorate my house! (Maybe one day if I’m lucky!). Until then, I’m watching her shows and pulling inspiration for my new place (in an earlier post I talked about my move), and hoping to channel some of her aesthetic into my home. Sleek and Stylish Diffuser
I really like the idea of home scents, but either I don’t like what they look like, find the smell too strong or am fearful the fragrance is full of chemicals. Recently I came across the Cube by Senscity and was very swayed. Read the rest of this entry »

Dyson Goes Mini
In case you aren’t familiar, Dyson is the vacuum cleaner that totes its patented Root Cyclone technology, meaning it doesn’t need bags, doesn’t clog and the biggie – it doesn’t lose suction. Until now, the only vacuums available from Dyson were either upright, canister or handheld – fine if you live in a house, but maybe not so practical if you’re a downtown condo dweller. Affordable Ways to Decorate Your Newlywed Nest
I’m in the midst of moving right now, which means packing, purging and also shopping! I love organizing so I’m not totally going out of my mind, but I am ready to get into the new place permanently. None of this living-out-of-boxes shenanigans. And I’m also ready for decorating! Read the rest of this entry »

Tree Love
While I totally understand the sentiment behind carving your initials on a tree trunk, it just seems a bit wrong to deface a piece of public property (and a living one at that!). It’s definitely not an eco-friendly thing to do, and let’s be honest, there are better ways to immortalize your love: like these Birch Tree dishes by artist Jessica Rust. Be a Kitchen Pro
I think I’d rate my kitchen skills as moderate. I’m no pro, but I love baking, trying out new appliances or kitchen gadgets and occasionally trying a new recipe here and there. To be honest the reason I don’t try new dishes more often is because I just don’t have the time. On a weekday basis usually I’m home from the gym and just want to eat, not experiment with a Julia Child three-course meal (plus I’d rather wait to mess up the kitchen on a Saturday). When it comes to the prep, appliances can help and one that’s on my list is Cuisinart‘s new food processor. Read the rest of this entry »

I Love My Nespresso

Citiz Nespresso & Milk
Confession: I love coffee. I currently drink one (maybe two) cups a day, but there was a time when a pot was my typical consumption (too much, I know). Usually if I buy a coffee, it’s an Americano (espresso with hot water). I got turned on to espresso when I worked at an Italian restaurant, but still enjoy drip and the fancy drinks too – like lattes and mochachinos (although my wallet doesn’t). When it comes to registering, you’re probably going to include a coffee-related machine – whether that’s a traditional coffee maker, espresso machine, etc. If you’re wanting something sleek and easy to use, I definitely recommend the Citiz Nespresso machine.
