CONTEST: Win a $100 Gift Certificate to Bed Bath & Beyond

In this week’s video I visited Bed Bath and Beyond to find out about what registry items you should put on list. We walked around a few of essential registry departments and Monika (the BBB expert) explained to me how you should register for china, why you might consider upgrading some of your small appliances and how it’s OK to reassess something you’ve registered for (like linens). To help you along with your newlywed nest, we’re giving one lucky bride a $100 gift certificate to Bed Bath & Beyond. How do you win? Watch the video and tell me: Who does Monika find tends to be the cook in the house when couples come in and register?

The Perfect Cup of Coffee

There are a lot of coffee fans here at the office, myself included. I blogged before about my love for Nespresso (Nicole is also a fan), but sometimes all you want is a good ‘ol cup of the regular stuff. One machine that passes the test for both design and functionality is from Krups. If waking up to the smell of coffee is your idea of a good morning, then I highly suggest you register for their Precision Coffee Maker. Read the rest of this entry »

Summer Finds at Pottery Barn

In an earlier post I mentioned how I got to preview some of the fabulous new things coming from Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, well I thought I’d get you inspired for summer with more amazing things you’ll love to register for (or even buy now!). Like I’ve said before updating your home doesn’t have to be expensive. Add some fresh new pillows, decor accents (like vases, lanterns or candles) or even a new bedspread. If you are considering registering at Pottery Barn or Williams-Sonoma, their registry program is accessible to guests anywhere in Canada. All they’ll have to do is give them a call and they’ll arrange everything (including the gift-wrap). Plus whatever items you don’t receive, but requested, is available for you to purchase at 10% off – more of a reason for you to register for everything you want!

This summer Pottery Barn has some incredibly adorable finds, like glass coolers, mason jar drinking mugs, faux coral decor pieces, sea-inspired napkins, plates and even candles. The great thing about this collection is that it’s not a theme that will go out of style. Personally I’m all for bringing the beach a little closer to home.

See-Through Toaster

Photography courtesy Williams-Sonoma.

Last week I had the opportunity to take a sneak peek at all of the new summer items coming out at Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. Let’s just say by the time I left I had a serious wishlist. One super cool item I had to share with you was this glass toaster called the Magimix Vision Toaster, which lets you see your toast while it’s cooking. Unlike other toasters where you have to lift to see what’s going on, now you can just sit back and watch. Plus it’s doesn’t take up tons of counter space like a toaster oven. The glass doesn’t get hot either, so you don’t have to worry about burning your hands, and the crumb tray underneath makes it easy to clean. The toaster slots are big enough to accommodate bagels and market bread, so no worries there. When it comes to kitchen appliances you’ve got to love when style and functionality come together.

It’s available at Williams-Sonoma now for $430.

Win a Copy of The Newlywed Kitchen!

**CONTEST UPDATE**

Congratulations to Sherry Unruh who correctly answered pine nuts, although I was very impressed to read all of the other suggestions, including walnuts and pecans. What foodies you all are! Stayed tuned for more exciting contests both on the site and on our blog.

*Weddingbells chose the winner at random

At Weddingbells we’re big fans of cooking in the kitchen. Personally I love to bake (muffins, pies, and cookies are my favourite), and recently have begun experimenting with new dinner recipes. When it comes to married life, chances are the kitchen is going to become a centre of your household, if it’s not already! After the wedding you’ll want to start experimenting with your new gadgets and appliances you registered for and what better way to do that then with some new recipes?

A new cookbook we think you should definitely consider for your collection is The Newlywed Kitchen: Delicious Meals for Couples Cooking Together. Read the rest of this entry »

Decorate with Scent and Colour

I talked about using scent in the home in an earlier post, which I think is a great way to add ambiance to any room in your house. When I heard about this new collaboration between Jo Malone and Farrow & Ball, I wanted to share it with all of you! For those of you who aren’t familiar, Jo Malone is a British lifestyle brand that sells products for the bath, body and home, while Farrow & Ball are expert manufactures in the paint and wallpaper business. It made complete sense the two collaborate on these gorgeous limited edition candles. Personally I love them all and could see any of them in my current place (I’m thinking the blue one in my bedroom). Read the rest of this entry »

Designer Sarah Richardson Launches Paint Collection

Photography courtesy sarahrichardsondesign.com.

Designer Sarah Richardson, star of the HGTV show’s, Design Inc., Sarah’s House and Sarah’s Cottage has gone on to expand her brand into paints! In case you didn’t know, she already has a furniture collection (available in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto as of now).  I’m a big fan of Richardson and have been watching the latest season of Sarah’s House (Season 3) where she is completely transforming a farmhouse into her signature style. I love how she uses glamorous details, vibrant textures and patterns, clean lines and chic pieces in her spaces. I would be a dream to have her decorate my house! (Maybe one day if I’m lucky!). Until then, I’m watching her shows and pulling inspiration for my new place (in an earlier post I talked about my move), and hoping to channel some of her aesthetic into my home.
