A spectacular Dior creation from the S/S 2011 collection

While we’re all waiting to find out who’s designing the other Kate’s wedding gown, we now know who will be the lucky designer to dress Kate Moss. Earlier in the week, Vivienne Westwood claimed the model would be designing her own dress, telling the Daily Mail, “No, I think she’s designing it herself. She has done her own fashion range and she knows about clothes. She knows what she is doing, she doesn’t need my help.” Instead, Kate Moss told friends during London Fashion Week that she is enlisting the help of the same designer who dressed Gwen Stefani for her wedding to Gavin Rossdale — Dior designer John Galliano, who is also a close friend. Set for July 2, we’ll have to wait and see what both Kate’s decide to wear on their big day!

At last night’s Grammy Awards, the red carpet was buzzing with celebrity couples — like Heidi and Seal, Nicole and Keith and Jewel and Ty. The biggest statement definitely had to go to Katy Perry who revealed footage from her recent wedding to Russell Brand on a large train to a huge dress that hung behind her, while she sat on a swing high above the stage singing “Not Like The Movies,” a song from her latest album. The video showed Katy wearing a veil, exchanging rings and then kissing Russell.

It looks like another Kate is engaged in Britain and it’s none other than supermodel Kate Moss who said yes to guitarist of The Kills, Jamie Hince. According to People.com Jamie popped the question Tuesday night, with a 1920′s vintage ring. The date is also reported to be set for July 2 and Kate’s eight-year-old daughter Lila will be a bridesmaid. We suspect this Kate will have a completely different bridal style than Ms. Middleton. What do you think?

Emma Bunton, of Spice Girl fame, just announced on Twitter that’s she’s engaged to longtime boyfriend Jade Jones. She tweeted, “Yahooooo I’m Engaged! Love you Jade! I’m a very happy lady!!” The tweet, accompanied a picture of Emma showing off her new engagement bling. The two already have a three-year-old son together, Beau and in November they announced they are expecting their second child. 

Kind words have already been tweeted from her Spice Girl mates. Victoria Beckham tweeted, “Congratulations Emma and Jade on your engagement!we are so happy for you!x vb x.” While Mel B. tweeted, “Hearing from across the pond you are looking glowing and stunning tonight,as always xxxxxxxx.”

We love looking to the red carpet for beauty and fashion inspiration. It’s a fabulous place to find ideas for your wedding day! In a previous post, Alison blogged about Mad Men beauty Christina Hendricks and her gorgeous makeup. When I got a closer look at some of the hair, one style that I felt was super modern, yet very bridal appropriate was the loose updo on The Fighter star and Globe nominee Amy Adams. Created by celebrity stylist Laini Reeves, she explains her thoughts behind the look, “I wanted to create a soft 20’s mood, but in a different, modern way.” In order to achieve that look one of the key products she used was Moroccanoil. Want to achieve this look? Here’s how Laini did it.

1. We started by washing her hair with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo which infuses the hair with argan oil, keratins, fatty acids, and proteins. Combined with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Conditioner, it immediately controlled the hair and left it smoother, frizz free and easy to manage and style.
2. I then applied Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream while it was drying, from root to end to give soft hold while further smoothing the texture and adding definition and shine. I rough-dried the hair with my hands to get the water out and created a bit of a messed up texture with a slight touch of wave for a more modern, freer look. The hair was air dried except at the roots, where I used a blow dryer.
3. Next, I used a 1” curling iron to make curls in different parts of the hair that needed to be filled in and then smoothed and blended them in. I made a side part and prepared some pieces from the front of the hair to frame her face, pinning them in an “S”-shape and away from the rest of the hair.
4. I gathered and pulled back the rest of hair, made a loose braid that I doubled up, rolled upwards and pinned at the nape, with the cross texture side of the braid showing. Only five thick bobby pins were used to secure the style in place.
5. Finally, I released the “S”-shaped sections in the front and pinned them behind the ear to open her face up and to show off her cheek bones. I then sprayed the look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to keep everything in place with movable shine, without looking like it was sprayed.

Who tuned into the Globes last night? Well, if you’re anything like us, then you’ll agree that half of the fun is seeing what everyone decided to wear. Emerald green seemed to be the shade of the awards, which turned up on Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mila Kunis and Elisabeth Moss. That being said, my favourites were bold and sparkly! I loved the amber Armani Privé gown Anne Hathaway opted to wear, with bold shoulders and a super-low back. Plus it was a nice change to see sleeves on the red carpet. Oliva Wilde was another favourite who wore a princess-style chocolate brown Marchesa gown. When it comes to your wedding gown, don’t be afraid of a little shimmer. If you’re not bold enough to do in on your dress, then your accessories (think clutch, shoes or even hair accessories) will definitely do.

As you’ve probably heard by now, Canadian singer Shania Twain said “I do” to Frédéric Thiebaud in Puerto Rico on New Year’s Day. The couple exchanged vows in front of 40 of their closest friends and family. Shania wore a gown she found in a small boutique hear her home in Lausanne, Switzerland and paired the dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Calvin Klein shoes. Her nine-year-old son Eja, walked her down the aisle and shooting the big day was photographer Robert Evans, who also shot the weddings of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, as well as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Twain gushed about her love on her blog, “I’m in love! Frederic has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend. Over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship.” While Evans wrote on his blog, “The images captured were stunning and mostly effortless on my part due to the fact that the love Shania and Fred share for one another exudes from deep within their lives. I feel fortunate to have witnessed it, let alone having had the privilege to photograph it.”

Yesterday, Nicole rounded up the celebrity wedding news, which was quite a long list! Included in that was Reese Witherspoon who accepted a proposal from Hollywood agent Jim Toth. The two have been dating since about January of last year, which started shortly after her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal ended. Last night, Reese and Jim headed out to the Lakers Game, where we finally caught a glimpse at the gorgeous ring! According to People.com, the 4-carat Ashoka diamond stunner was custom-designed. “In the past year, the retro look in diamonds has been very popular,” Eve Goldberg, co-owner of William Goldberg Diamond Corporation, which produced the custom-designed ring, told People.com. “It’s a very elegant cut and it has an old feel to it.” We love the idea of having a vintage-style ring and think Jim made a great choice!
