Wedding Belle: A Prairie Bride

Bride: Deanne Baker
Wedding Date:
August 21, 2010
Wedding Location:
Carberry, Manitoba
Wedding Style:
Surrounded by the natural beauty of her groom’s parent’s acreage, Deanne became the picture-perfect prairie bride. For her big day she chose a dramatic fit-to-flare gown with a diagonally ruched bodice. This one-strap stunner is strategically embellished with a fabric sash resting at the natural waist and fabric flowers lining the shoulder. Deanne kept her hair down, with her tousled blond curls peeking behind a waist-length veil and a chapel-length train trailing behind her. Her summer coloured bouquet was the perfect reflection of her natural garden theme. Deanne’s best girls mirrored her bridal style with asymmetrically ruched lavender gowns and miniature versions of the bridal bouquet. Undertaking everything from the cake to the favours, it was Deanne, Deanne’s mom and bridesmaids that were the wedding-planners for this extraordinary day. They chalked the wedding full of DIY details, yet kept decoration to a minimum to enhance the natural prairie scene.

From whimsical floral arrangements to paper butterflies at each place setting, stepping into Danielle’s wedding is like stepping into your favourite fairy-tale. Danielle glows in a mermaid-inspired gown with a striking silhouette. The gown hugs her body to mid-thigh then falls into soft tulle tiers accentuated with stain ribbon. The tier lengths vary in back and provide modern asymmetrical angles. Keeping within the whimsy of her theme, Danielle’s curls are swept to the side emphasizing a fluffy floral hairpiece. Wedding Belle: Waves of Love

Bride: Melissa Vanedenbroek
Wedding Date:
November 22, 2010
Wedding Location:
Mayan Riviera, Mexico
Wedding Style:
Dazzling spectators, Melissa floats down the aisle amidst a breathtaking backdrop of white sands and turquoise waters. Her stunning strapless gown cascaded into asymmetrical ruffles mid-waist, with airy organza fabric fluttering in the warm beach breeze. The diamond-encrusted bracelet sparkling on her wrist mirrored the diamond hairpin intertwined within her blond curls. She kept her makeup simple, focusing on a plum smoky eye and soft pink lips. Melissa’s wedding palette centred on the idea of white with a pop of colour. Corresponding to this theme the groomsmen dress entirely in crisp white linen, while the bridesmaids provide the “pop” in fiery red ruffle dresses. Melissa kept within the exotic flavor of her Mayan Riviera destination by accentuating her simple white rose bouquet with banana leaves. The shoreline appears tranquil as Melissa kicks aside her BCBG sparkle stilettos, revealing her perfect French manicured toes, and poses barefoot in the sand beside her handsome groom.

Wedding Belle: Vintage Charm

Bride: Emily Kemshaw
Wedding Date:
July 31, 2010
Wedding Location:
Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Wedding Style:
Emily’s DIY decor transformed her childhood home into a charming vintage venue. Her striking a-line gown with its intricately pleated bodice came complete with a set of pockets for Emily to relax her hands in. The sweetheart neckline of the gown was completed with a chunky necklace. The lucky bride donned, not one but two wedding dresses! A matching, but shorter, bubble hemmed dress was worn during the reception and gave perfect view to the brides red heart detailed heels. Her natural beauty shone bright with light makeup choices and brunette locks swept away from the face. Many rustic details popped throughout the wedding in the form of a baby’s breath bouquet, mismatched table settings and playful personalized wine labels. The groom himself followed this charming style wearing sneakers and waistcoat.

Immediately capturing attention in a custom-made couture gown, Leena looked modern and classy. No wonder Leena’s favourite wedding detail is her dress! The white bubble hemmed ballgown begins tea-length in front and rounds to floor-length behind. The length gives a fabulous view of Leena’s black peep-toe shoes. Sticking with black and white attire, a voluminous black sash is tied around her middle (and matches the bow binding the lilies in her hand).
