Kim Kardashian Gets Engaged!

Last October, Kim Kardashian was in Toronto promoting a spectacular 22-carat diamond engagement ring by Michael Hill (read my post about the event here), and I can’t help thinking that sparkler was a good luck charm! At that time, Kardashian, who referred to herself as a “hopeless romantic,” was yet to meet Kris Humphries (who is now her fiancé!). Fast-forward several months, and Kardashian is newly engaged to Humphries, a New Jersey Nets forward. Humphries wisely turned to Kardashian’s mom Kris Jenner for help picking out the ring, and he popped the question at Kardashian’s Beverly Hills home with a custom 20.5-carat diamond ring by renowned jeweller Lorraine Schwartz. According to People magazine, Humphries only had one criteria for the ring: “I just knew I wanted it to be big.” To that we say, mission accomplished!

Current Obsession: Polka Dot Swimsuits

Here in Canada, the May long weekend represents the unofficial start of summer, so I thought we should celebrate with some adorable swimsuits! I’ve noticed a lot more retro-inspired silhouettes and patterns lately, and I’m particularly fond of polka dots (who doesn’t want an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny polka dot bikini?), so I picked a few to share with you today. Fashion designer extraordinaire Elie Saab is launching his very first fragrance this summer, and I’m attending an exclusive launch event at Toronto’s Hazelton Hotel this evening! To get myself in the mood, I thought I’d peruse some of his jaw-dropping couture creations—for Fall/Winter 2011—and they’re simply too pretty not to share! My New Favourite: Destination Dress

Blame it on Toronto’s grey skies, but I’m currently dreaming about lush tropical beaches. Speaking of which, wouldn’t this wedding dress (by Destinations by Mon Cheri) be pretty for a Caribbean ceremony? Can’t you just feel the wind in your hair?
