Actually, this entry is about more than cake…it’s about FOOD!!
Rehearsal Dinner: This is going to be a really special dinner because it’s going to incorporate the foods of our two families. Gergely’s mom is an amazing baker and makes the most delicious Hungarian dessert: beigli. It’s a rolled pastry filled with sesame seeds and jam and according to Ger, his mom is the ONLY person who can make it right. I can’t wait to see all the goodies that she’ll whip up for us!
My mom is, in my opinion, the best cook in the world! She, like me, loves food, and can make just about anything after tasting it just once. For the rehearsal dinner though, she’ll probably stick to the classic Chinese dishes: dumplings, stir-fried vermicelli, spring rolls, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

The most fun part of wedding planning has got to be planning the different outfits. Since one of our goals is to consume the minimum amount of new materials in our wedding, this put a twist on the plans. It is this motivation to be eco-friendly that made me want to go with a vintage theme (although, I do love vintage EVERYTHING…it’s the 70-year-old granny in me…)
Thanks for voting us into this round! Ger and I really appreciate your support and are excited to share our wedding plans with you. I haven’t really introduced Gergely (GARE-GAY—it’s Hungarian) yet, so let me tell you a little bit about him, and us, and our lives…and hopes….and dreams…just kidding! We’ll just tell you how we met and got engaged.
“Organic.” “All-natural.” “Locally grown.” “Five cent plastic bags.” These are the mantra of my life and thus my wedding. My wedding date is set in April and I am now embarking upon a journey that would be make my wedding not only unique and special, but also one that is environmentally sound.
I’m Carrie, an internal medicine resident and Gergely, my fiancé, just finished law school. Our theme is eco-vintage and it will be held in Canmore, Alberta. We want to plan our wedding with a global and environmental consciousness. Eco-friendly weddings don’t have to be granola and vanilla. In fact, it can be just as or more beautiful than a “conventional” wedding.
