I have a new love for hair mousse! Many of us remember using it in the 80′s, but as the big hair movement came to an end, out went the mousse. I think we were on to something and I’m bringing it back. Read the rest of this entry »

Blushing Bride

Stila Convertible Colour in Petunia.
Totally all over the runways for fall, but always a staple in my kit, hot pink blush brightens up your face in an instant and makes you feel a million times prettier and more awake! It might look frightening in the package, a little on the eighties racer stripe vibe, but steering away from bright blushes has to be one of the biggest misconceptions with makeup. In fact, when applied properly and sparingly, hot pink blush looks fresher and far more natural than a muted browny pink or beige shade. Read the rest of this entry »

Heartbreaker

Photography courtesy Heartbreaker Hair Salon.
I just attended the best bridal shower. I only wish I had come up with the idea myself! The shower was held at a cute little nail bar on Dundas Street in Toronto called Heartbreaker (998 Dundas St. W., 416-869-0440, heartbreakersalon.ca). Not only do they do nails, they do full service aesthetics and they boast the greatest variety of graphic nail decals in Toronto. The shades of colour by the eco-friendly brand Zoya nail lacquers are sure not to disappoint. Read the rest of this entry »

Prep School
Have I really not mentioned primer in an entry yet? Shame on me. Primer is a must. I start every single makeup application with a foundation primer. I know many women would never think of adding yet another product to their makeup routine, but as a makeup artist, any product that makes my job easier and helps my work look better, I cannot live without. Designer Foundation
Last weeks’ entry was all about my favourite sheer tinted moisturizer, but not everyone is blessed with not needing more coverage. I would say the number one request by clients is for their makeup artist to give them a flawless complexion. Everyone wants to look like an airbrushed version of themselves, especially on their wedding day. One of the most raved about foundations on the market is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Liquid Foundation and I have to completely agree. Read the rest of this entry »

Just a Tint
For those of you not willing to take the foundation plunge or for those of you that don’t need a whole lot of coverage, I urge you to give Stila sheer color tinted moisturizer a try. It is light weight, sheer and has SPF 15, allowing you to skip the sunscreen on your face (who doesn’t need to save time in the morning right?!). Read the rest of this entry »

Perfect Nude Lip

Chelsea Girls Lip Lacquer by NARS
A nude mouth oozes sex appeal. That is of course, if you are wearing the right shade. There is nothing more unattractive than a washed out, chalky nude lip. The last thing you want is your mouth looking like it has been erased from the rest of your face! This is where Chelsea Girls Lip Lacquer by NARS comes to the rescue. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Your Eyes Pop!

Chanel's Precision Eye Definer
I often assume that most of the products I use must be common knowledge and I forget that my everyday staples are in fact the tricks that people want to hear about. I realized this the other day when I put bronze shimmer eyeliner on a model and she was shocked at how it made her eyes pop, yet still felt soft and subtle. I was just shocked that she was shocked!
