One thing you can’t forget to organize is your bridal emergency kit. This includes items you may need on the big day like floss, blotting tissues, safety pins, deodorant and Tide-to-Go (read the full list of items here). Another essential we think you’ll want to include in that kit comes from a new brand of teeth whitening products — Love that White Smile — created by Canadian cosmetic dentist Dr. Jonathan Shainhouse. Shine-Free Foundation
If you’re doing your own wedding-day makeup, one of the things you need to invest in is a good foundation for your skin type. According to Wanda Longo, international communications director for CoverFX, who gave some amazing beauty tips (along with Dee Daly and M.A.C.’s Jane McKay) for those of you doing your own wedding-day makeup, that normal to dry skin types should use a liquid or cream, while oily skin types should use powder. For those of you who fall in the normal to dry category, one foundation you should consider is Lancome’s new Teint Idole Fresh Wear. Read the rest of this entry »

Did you know that Quo beauty is celebrating 10 years? You’ve probably seen this Canadian cosmetics company in Shoppers Drug Mart, which is because they helped to develop it. In celebration of their decade of beauty, Quo will be launching a limited edition entitled Quo Couture, full of richly coloured eyeshadows, a new moisturizing foundation, pretty glosses and for the first time nail lacquers. Bold Lip Colour
I’ve worn Stila’s Long Wear Liquid Lip Color now a handful of times out and think it’s absolutely perfect for a bride who wants a bold, long-lasting lip. I tend to wear glosses, but really loved the statement this colour made. It wears matte, so you don’t have to worry about sticky gloss, unless you want a shiny look, you could definitely layer a gloss over the colour. The formula also contains vitamin E and avocado oil, to help hydrate your lips. I was really surprised just how long the lip colour lasted. It barely came off on my water glass and didn’t smudge either. My personal favourite from the six shades is Petal, a pale pink with a punch. Fiery is perfect if you want a red pout and Patina for a nude lip. Retailing for $29, you can find it at Murale and Sephora stores nationwide.

Pretty Eyes
There’s nothing like eyeshadow to perk up your eyes and if you’re planning on doing your own makeup for your wedding day, splurging on a great eyeshadow is definitely a must! I’m seriously loving these new shadows from Guerlain, which is officially hitting shelves August 15 (Guerlain boutiques and Holt Renfrew already have). Something that’s unique about these shadows is that each compact offers three different textures: Iridescent (has a subtle metallic finish), Matte (contrasts the iridescent) and Satiny (velvety, delicate finish). Mascara that Regenerates Lashes
Attention all mascara lovers! If you’re looking to get denser, more full lashes for your wedding day then we highly recommend you give Lanôme’s new mascara Définicils Precious Cells a try. It’s the first mascara from the brand that promises to “regenerate the condition of lashes, while delivering ultimate definition and lash by lash fullness.” Ie. You’re lashes will look thicker with consistent use. After four weeks of using the mascara 85% liked the results, 77% reported a loss of lashes during their beauty routine, and 62% felt their lashes were in better condition (ie. regenerated).
While the mascara won’t make your lashes grow (you’ll need a Latisse prescription for that) or curl (a good ‘ol eyelash curler will do), it is a great option if you want to help them strengthen and thicken before you walk down the aisle. Day of, falsies or extensions work wonders and will make your eyes pop in pictures!
Définicils Precious Cells will be available starting in August at Lancome.ca and Lanôme counters for $34.

Win a Rowenta Flat Iron!
**CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED**
Congratulations to Melissa B. of Toronto who has won herself a Rowenta Flat Iron! Please note winner was selected at random.
Known for their irons and professional garment steamers, about a year ago Rowenta launched its beauty line into the North American market. The tools were tested with the best of the best, including with Ford’s celebrity hair stylist Brennen DeMelo, and backstage at fashion week in Toronto and Montreal during the Fall & Winter 2010 collections. With five in total, including a Straight & Curl 2 in 1 curling iron and a Professional Flat Iron (which we’re giving away!), you can get professional results at home (especially good if you’re opting to do your own wedding day hair — or even for the events around your wedding).
