Did you know that Elizabeth Arden is celebrating 100 years in 2010? It all started in NYC in 1910 when Elizabeth (real name Florence Nightingale Graham) opened her first salon—it had a red door and was located on Fifth Avenue. From the salon and her treatments, came products and prestige. In 1930, Elizabeth introduced the renown Eight Hour Cream, an item that still flies off shelves today and something that no home should be without! To celebrate 100 years of beauty, Elizabeth Arden has launched a gorgeous limited edition anniversary lipstick in Red Door Red. This sheer ruby hue looks amazing on all skin tones and I’ve got five tubes here at my desk to give away to five of you lucky ladies. There’s a skill-testing question though. A Weddingbells’ Reader Writes
Imagine my surprise last week when an email from model/actor Monika Schnarre appeared in my in-box. Just in case you are not familiar with Ms. Schnarre, at 14 she won Ford Model’s Supermodel of the world contest and appeared on the cover of Vogue AND Weddingbells (more on that in a mo). Her acting resume includes TV shows including Beverly Hills 90210, Charmed, The King of Queens, and more. Monika is newly engaged and dropped me a line to share her good news and her surprise at seeing her 1987 Weddingbells cover printed again as part of a gatefold featured on our new issue which pays tribute to our 25th anniversary. Oscar Inspiration
The show was long and snoozy, but the fashion hits at the 82nd annual Academy Awards were plentiful. My best of the night vote goes to the gorgeous Best Actress Sandra Bullock. Read the rest of this entry »

New Honeymoon Hot Spot
As they say, it’s better in the Bahamas, and with the addition of the luxe new Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, I can’t think of a better place to honeymoon than at this amazing resort. This resort is the world’s first all butler, oceanfront getaway and is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Hello miles of white sand and aquamarine waters! Just a few of the highlights at this beautiful, brand new Sandals (the doors opened in January): 183 oceanview/oceanfront suites and beachfront villas, five resort restos, a Greg Norman designed gold course and a sprawling Red Lane spa (the space measures over 16,000 square feet). I will be checking out this property in the coming months and can’t wait to share all the details with you.

Nail Trend: Get Minxed!
Minx nails are only the coolest thing to happen to manicures in years. Lady Gaga loves them. So does Beyoncé, Blake Lively, Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Megan Fox and Liv Tyler. A Minx mani consists of the following: your natural nails are groomed as per a traditional natural nail manicure, but when it comes to the polishing stage, a sticker shaped like your nail is heated up and adhered to your nails. Go for the Gold
The Olympics are history, but that doesn’t mean the golden moments have to end. With our athletes bringing home a record haul of hardware—of the gold variety in particular— we at Weddingbells are totally having a golden moment. Adding gold elements to your 2010 wedding day seems like the thing to do, and one area I think is prime for adding the sizzling metallic to is your beauty look. Read the rest of this entry »

More Cowbell, Babies!
“What’s up with the cowbells?,” I asked my husband the other night while watching the Canadian women glide to gold and silver in bobsled. It was not the first time I’d heard them clanging at the Vancouver games, so I knew there must be a story there. History has it that the tradition of ringing a cowbell originated in Switzerland when farmers would host ski races and their family would use their animals’ bells to cheer them on. Apparently they are now a tradition of the winter Olympics, used to cheer athletes at events both on and off the slopes. Just in case you want an official 2010 Olympic cowbell, you can grab one (cost, $40) at The Olympic Store. Better yet, I did a little more research on cowbells and there are actually cute wee ones out there you can grab as wedding favours. Find them at (where else?) cowbell.com!
P.S. I can also seriously recommend the cowbell App for your iPhone, because you just never know when you’re going to need more cowbell….
