Natural Nuptials
“Organic.” “All-natural.” “Locally grown.” “Five cent plastic bags.” These are the mantra of my life and thus my wedding. My wedding date is set in April and I am now embarking upon a journey that would be make my wedding not only unique and special, but also one that is environmentally sound.
Theme: Reuse!
I came across the idea of “reuse” dresses in the car to a wedding. It was probably the fourth wedding that season and I was in my fourth “wedding” attire. I casually mentioned to my fiancé that when it was our turn we would make everyone wear something they already have.
The Dress: Reuse!
Since wedding season is wrapping up, a lot of brides are putting their dresses for sale. After deciding what style and cut I want, I check the sites daily to see what bargain deals I can get. I have two to three narrowed down and I’m ready to make the offer any day now. The key is being patient—know the style and what you’re looking for and once you see it…pounce!
The Flowers and Menu: Local
I haven’t gotten this far in the planning but I know that I will only be using seasonal and locally grown flowers and food (“Good things grow in Ontario”).
The Invitations: Electronic
We selected minimal quantities in terms of wedding invitations from Ecoluxe and the rest of the guest will scanned versions of the invitation. It’s nice to have computer savvy guests!
So far eco-chic has proven more than being environmentally conscious but also budget friendly as well…and that’s just the beginning!
