Getting That “Bridal Glow”
I’ve always had problem skin. As long as I can remember, I’ve been plagued with every skin problem imaginable—acne, extreme dry skin and eczema have been my biggest problems. It got to the point when I had to quit past jobs because something at the workplace was causing my eczema to act up. Luckily, over the past few years working with my new dermatologist, I was able to get my skin to a manageable point and hadn’t had many flare ups of any of my skin issues…
Until 2 weeks ago. Basically, my face exploded. I’m pretty sure it’s due to the stress of starting a new job (something I did one month before the wedding!) and the planning of both the wedding trip and the AHR (at home reception)… lack of sleep also must have played a huge part in the breakout. With my eczema flaring up and the acne making a sudden, very unwanted return, I had to make an appointment at a local salon for a facial, something I have only done once in my life and never did again because the chemicals in most treatments just cause my skin issues to get worse. But my boss recommended Skoah to me—a local salon chain that uses all natural products that are manufactured right here in Vancouver. I have to say, I felt really nervous going in there because of my one and only terrible experience at a different spa years ago, but I’m sure glad I did. After only a week, I’ve already seen a huge improvement in my skin and by the time we leave for Jamaica, I’m sure I’ll feel confident enough that I won’t be shy during the pictures.
What has been your skin care regimen leading up to your big day?

It’s really good you found something that works for you! I’m terrified to try a facial because I have suuuuuper sensitive skin, but I might have to try a Skoah facial now:)
Thanks for your comments, gals ;)
Heli – thanks for the tip about the No.7 repair & rejuvenate – I definitely need to get something for the dark eye circles! It’s the only problem that the Skoah products haven’t been able to remedy yet. I’ll definitely be trying No.7 soon…
I have horrible skin, and have tried pretty much everything under the sun. Some are too drying, others to moisturizing… fustration!
believe it or not I just got onto Pro-Active, I know I am going to sound like a commercial but it works. My face clears up in a week, and has been improving exponentially since. the cleanser is a little rough with the beads but the toner and moisturizer balance it out well.
I have nice skin FINALLY. And for those who are a little more thrifty the face mask that comes with the kit is an awesome facial.
another tip… dark under eyes, or minor fine lines… no 7 repair and rejenerate is fantastic. you can get it at Shoppers Drug Mart for 28$ and i have even got my mom and mom-in-law to be on it. we are loving it.
I am so glad you were able to find a product that works for you! I know how difficult this can be and frustrating especially when products are really expensive and don’t work. I am sure you will be glowing on your wedding day:)
I can see how a bad experience with the salon could leave you with a “sour taste in your mouth”. I feel you on this one because I began breaking out when the stress of work, being a mom and planning a wedding got a bit hard to handle.
After reading your post I feel a bit more at ease with trying something out. I’ve been curious to try a microdermabrasion for my acne scarring. Oy, the acne scaring. But I’m glad to say I’ve FINALLY found a facial cream that works for my skin type (only after I had my skin analyzed) and now I’m thinking I may just invest in a cleanser and toner of the same brand. Because of your post I’m convinced that I should at least get a consultation with a professional…yay! Glad to hear it’s working out for you – now I’m not so chicken :p.
I’ve been fortunate enough to not have issues acne, exzema, etc. But I get nodular acne and various place, neck, chest behind my knees, my sides. My routine hasn’t changed much except I make sure I throw a mask in once a week, I wash my face with *gasp* Drugstore face wash, It’s L’Oreal, and then I use Spectro lotion, and Benefit Eye Con cream (which, is supposed to fade cark circles, it doesn’t really do much, but I pais money for it, so I will use it)
For my body I use Neutrogena Body Wash, the pink grapefruit kind.
Oh you poor thing! I’m so glad you’ve found something that works :) I have bad skin too – I’d swear it still thought it was fifteen years old!! I’ve started using toner as well as an acne cleanser, and not being so bad with leaving makeup on at the end of the day – it seems to be working great so far :)
