I ♥ Etsy!
First off, I have to share the good news—everything worked out, and Karlo and I are still getting married in Jamaica! It took almost a week, (andthere was very little sleep during that week, let me tell you!) but our travel agent was able to find us enough seats on a different flight to Jamaica, and work it out with the hotel that we still have the same block of rooms as originally booked. Now, of course, the itinerary is very different from the original—we’re flying on a different day, and we have a few layovers to deal with—but it’s all good. We’re just happy that we still get to feel the Jamaican sand under our feet as we say our vows. Just a little road bump on our way to wedded bliss, no biggie! As they say in Jamaica, “Ery’ting irie!”
Now that that’s out of the way, the planning continues! I’m sure most of you have already heard of Etsy, but in case you haven’t—check it out! It’s the most amazing place to seek out and find the loveliest handmade items for your wedding. I’ve been a fan of Etsy for years (and actually used to sell handmade bags on there myself) and as soon as Karlo and I got engaged, I knew that many a wedding item would be purchased from there. To date, my real touch bridal bouquet (more on that later!), bridal jewellery and our custom cake toppers have all been purchased from Etsy artists, and no doubt I’ll be purchasing more in the future. My favourite feature of Etsy is that you can search for local vendors, and in effect end up buying handmade items from artists in your own neighbourhood. The Vancouver handmade movement has been going strong for
years, and I love that in addition to buying items from local craft fairs, I can also shop online and buy from many of the same artists on Etsy. Apart from my wedding dress, most everything for our wedding is handmade—either by myself or from Etsy. I absolutely love that ours is a “handmade wedding,” and really couldn’t have pulled it off without Etsy!
So, do any of you have an Etsy seller or item that you just can’t keep to yourself?! I adore finding new handmade gems!

I’m glad everything worked out for you! Those bouquets are beautiful!
I’m so glad it worked out for you!!! We had a similar scare, but not to do with our wedding venue, our honeymoon. The whole cruise that we had booked got canceled and we had to scramble to re-schedule everything as well.
I ordered my cake topper from Etsy too. A different place than yours but I’m really excited to see it as well!
Wow – Emily, that one for the card boxes is really nice too!
Yes, I’m very happy it all worked out also otherwise I wouldn’t be going to Jamaica…Woo Hoo, my cousin Lara getting married and better, I’m gonna be there also. I can’t wait.
Love you, love you, love you.
Those Cake Toppers are TDF, cutest ever!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Etsy. I have also purchased a number of things off there, but the amount of stuff they have is never-ending. That might be the only downside ;)
And thanks again for my beeeeautiful card box! I still have it :)

Not that one (it’s pink! lol) but a similar style just blue and silver and wintery :)
Thanks for your comments, ladies =) Our cake toppers actually just showed up in the mail today and we’re over the moon about them!!
Judith – it’s awesome that you got your cake toppers from Etsy, too! Are you going to blog about them? I’m so curious about what yours look like ;)
Emily – who did you order your card box from?! I’m going to make ours (I made my best friend’s last fall and it was really fun to do!) so I’m super curious about other people’s choices. It’s so exciting waiting for stuff in the mail, though, eh? ;)
Belinda – thanks! I’m glad it all worked out, too. I checked out The Elegant Elle – her stuff is really pretty! I’m sure your fascinator is really lovely =)
So glad to hear that everything worked out. I love etsy as well and ordered a fascinator for my hair the day of the wedding from The Elegante Elle!
SOOOOO glad everything worked out!! Huge congratulations on what must have been incredibly difficult.
I love Etsy! It has so many beautiful and unique things – we ordered our card box from a lady on there who’s making it all wintery and snowflakey and lovely. She shipped it this week so I’m all excited to see it :)
So glad to hear that everything worked out well! Love your attitude about it all, good for you!
I too heart Etsy! I’m not much of an online shopper but when I started planning my wedding and hitting up wedding forums, I’d see Etsy this and Etsy that so I decided to check it out. I’m a huge fan of ‘handmade’ everything and like you, a majority of my wedding will be handmade. I love that it just adds a touch of whimsy and individual personality.
Mark and I have found our cake topper off Etsy, not quite what you’ve found but still completely us. You’re cake toppers are so cute! I even said “awww” when I saw the picture.
Congratulations on making it through what I could only imagine as being a rough time. Good for you for keeping such a great attitude!
Cheers!
