Old World Charm
Moments before my fiancé was to pop the big question, I threw a set of keys in a velvet box, gazed into his eyes and in a serious tone asked, “Will you…move in with me?” When he first saw the little box he was floored. “Did she find my ring?” or gasp, “Did she finally snap and buy her own ring?!” (after 11 years, this was perfectly conceivable). Eventually he did ask on bended knee, I said yes and the wedding is set for July 31, 2010 in the Algarve, Portugal. Sandwiched between the southern coast with roaring waves, signature beaches, and the Alentejo region spotted with vineyards and olive groves, lies Alte. With its cobble-stoned streets, whitewashed stone buildings and old world charm, Alte is a picturesque mountain village. It’s also an important part of my family’s heritage and home to the grandparents who helped raise me. Now this downtown Toronto girl is getting married in a tiny 13th century country church—the same church where my grandparents renewed their wedding vows, 50 years later. I’ve never been the girl who dreamed of her wedding day or had all the details figured out (what do you mean I need a wedding theme?), but I do look forward to planning a wedding across the ocean in a rustic, mountainside hotel where family and friends will eat, drink and watch the sun set over rolling hills of orange groves, as my groom and I toast the night away…stay tuned!

Even if you dont win, you will always be my WINNER. Your blog was 100 x better.
Sorry that you might not make it through it seems but it looks like it was fixed anyway clearly the Wedding Bells staff have already picked their winner (Mai) as they delete anything negative directed at her immediately while they let nasty comments on your entry stay up for days. They edit Mai’s comments too so she doesn’t look bad and make sure she is always in the lead. Its a fix and i’m sad for you. But best of luck in your wedding it sounds lovely
I think the Wedding Bells staff should take a note of what you said about the contest making you stressed and anxious; I have a friend in this competition who is having a VERY tough time with the rapid percentage changes, the negative comments, and the worry about what’s going to happen – I think a month was totally too long to draw out the tension and really brought out some negative things, when in the end all that really is going to count is how many people click a mouse for a certain girl. I feel sorrry for everyone in this contest and I sincerly hope the staff don’t do this to you all in the following round. I agree with a lot of the comments about it being unfair and its not fair for some of you who I know work 2 jobs, don’t have any time on their hands to see their fiance let alone spend a bunch of time voting, when others can sit around making as many accounts as they want and voting for themselves. I’m not accusing anyone of this but a lot of peoples suspicions have been raised in general and its totally a possibility and i definitely see how it could make anyone in this competition very stressed out. I’m sorry you had to go through this and I wish you all the best once this is all over and you can focus on planning your wedding!!
