Circus Celebration
My life is filled with circus, vegan cupcakes and love. It is far from ordinary and I want my wedding day to be the same. I’m entering the Alternative category because I’m pretty sure our wedding will be far from usual.
My fiancé and I met at the circus training space. Since then, we’ve fallen in love, created circus acts together and opened up an aerial, acrobatic and fitness studio by the name of Cirque-ability.
We don’t have a lot of time to plan. Our wedding will be in spring 2010. We are leaning towards turning the ceremony into a circus show. I’d like to portray our love story with performance and get married during the show. We’re even considering holding the event at Centre of Gravity where we met. After the ceremony, we would like to have an almost normal reception, except for one detail. As a longtime vegan, I’ve always dreamed of having a vegan wedding. On my wedding day, I want to share in the same meal and experience as everyone else.
I am the perfect bride for this blogging job because I can share the ups and downs on trying to do things differently. There is a lot of pressure to do things a certain way when you’re planning your wedding. I really want to show people that you can have your wedding your way, make it meaningful to the bride and groom and memorable for the guests who attend.

Thanks Krystal!
Congratulations Heather!!! I’m glad you made it as the blogger:)
No, I hadn’t heard of them! Their cupcakes look good though. I’ll keep them in mind. I had been thinking about possibly doing my own, but it might be too crazy to try that the day before the wedding! I have to think on it!
Love this idea! I really hope you win! I’m really excited to see how your vegan menu will please your non-vegan guests. Have you heard of Cupcaketionery? Theyre a vegan cupcakery and their cakes are delish!
Hi Heather,
Finally, the contest has closed! Good luck to you.
I hope you have a great wedding and more importantly, a wonderful and happy marriage!
Lisa
I think the Wedding Bells staff should take a note of what you said about the contest making you stressed and anxious; I have a friend in this competition who is having a VERY tough time with the rapid percentage changes, the negative comments, and the worry about what’s going to happen – I think a month was totally too long to draw out the tension and really brought out some negative things, when in the end all that really is going to count is how many people click a mouse for a certain girl. I feel sorrry for everyone in this contest and I sincerly hope the staff don’t do this to you all in the following round. I agree with a lot of the comments about it being unfair and its not fair for some of you who I know work 2 jobs, don’t have any time on their hands to see their fiance let alone spend a bunch of time voting, when others can sit around making as many accounts as they want and voting for themselves. I’m not accusing anyone of this but a lot of peoples suspicions have been raised in general and its totally a possibility and i definitely see how it could make anyone in this competition very stressed out. I’m sorry you had to go through this and I wish you all the best once this is all over and you can focus on planning your wedding!!
Heather as the dealine approaches you have lots of support for your Alternative Wedding and we hope that in winning this it will only add to your special day. Best of Luck!
Thanks for the support everyone!
Is there any point even in voting (well yeah, so you’ll win “officially”)– I think it’s pretty obvious that Heather and Maleke’s wedding will be by far the funnest. I mean, who else has vegan acrobats at their wedding? Duh, c’mon people– vote for Heather!
as far as fitting an “ALTERNATIVE” category- this one steals the cake!
As a circus artist I know how much our career is a part of our love, passion, dreams, and how we express ourselves. It is going to be amazing to see how the elements are all going to come together.
Your life at times LITERALLY is held in Maleke’s hands and is such a beautiful symbol of the kind of trust and care and hard work that goes into a marriage.
I also think that the fact it is going to be a fully vegan wedding gives it an extra boost in the “alternative” category.
This ones got it all- Artistic vision AND practical ideas!
A circus performance AND a Vegan dinner? It sounds like a lovely event! All the best on your wedding day ♥ ☮ ♥
Congrats to you and Maleke on the upcoming nuptials and on doing it your way! Have the wedding you want – it’s your day!
