Tut tut. Try not to blow your cover next time, love.
Massive well done again to Emily, and it’s lovely to see friends all around the world are still supporting and congratulating you. x
YAY emily!!! Such a kind-hearted girl most definitely deserves a price such as this. LOVE you gurl!! :)
Thank you so much Mai for your kind, kind words and for your support. I really enjoyed reading your posts too and seeing the photos of your wedding day. Best of luck with Bojan and your beautiful family for the future, and so many wishes of love happiness to you too! :)
Emily,
First of all, congrats! I am extremely happy for you and your fiance. You guys totally deserved this! Your blog was always entertaining and insightful. A well deserved prize for a beautiful bride-to-be!
Second of all, please do not worry about the negative comments. There will always be individuals who have a problem with you getting a break and I think it is a great testament to know that all of your friends are willing to stand up for you! I KNOW you did not cheat or buy votes and for anyone to so much as insinuate (or in this case, blatantly accuse you of) that is ridiculous.
Please enjoy all the winnings and most of all, enjoy the wedding and rest of your life with your hubby to be. I am beyond over the moon for you and wish you all of life’s happiness. Congrats again!
Firstly, again (I promise I won’t write an ESSAY like I did yesterday! :) ), words cannot do justice to the true and deep feeling of appreciation I have for every single one of you, for everything you’ve brought to my life, for all your support, and especially yesterday for standing up for me – I feel truly blessed to know such an incredible group of people all across the world – from childhood friends to coworkers to current friends and the amazing blogging community, your support, generosity and friendship is nothing short of incredible and I am so lucky to know you all! And to all the other brides, it’s been an amazing journey, and I wish you all the best in the next chapter of your lives :)
Congratulations Emily. Best of luck with the rest of your wedding planning and I wish you a long and happy marriage :). Cheers!
Hey Bravo….
I’m taking this a personal Insult you know!! I grew up with Emily all the way back here in Merry ol’ England and for me, and the countless people Emily knows all over the world, thanks to her wonderful blog, voting for her and giving her something amazing such as winning the competition is a very small way of making up for the fact that we can’t all come to her wedding…!!!!!
You have clearly not read a single thing that Emily has written about these last few months, for if you did you would know that she was not capable of such an act that you are accusing her of…!!!
if anyone here is ‘shady’ and ‘dark’ it is you, i’d just like to know, what are you accusations based on?? it’s ok, everyone here reading knows it’s just bitterness and hatred.
EMILY JANE WOOD, WE ALL LOVE YOU HERE AND EVERYWHERE YOUR WORDS, AND LOVE HAVE TOUCHED US!
YAY, EMILY! You deserve it, girl. So, so happy for you!
Haters, be warned. DON’T MESS WITH THE BLOGGING COMMUNITY! Mess with Emily, and you’re messing with hundreds of other people.
Emily!!! You didn’t pay me! What the heck?! :) Just kidding – congrats on your big win, friend!!! I wouldn’t even spend time reading the hate mail if I were you!
Woo!! Go Emily, this is brilliant brilliant news, and you totally deserve it! Hurrah!!!! <3!
Dear Caren, Not being harsh, of course we’re all a bit jealous! We’re just not childish about it :) Unlike a certain “Bravo”, I believe? But I haven’t even bothered reading the comment, as there is no point rising to it :)
Obv the hater has NO IDEA how blogging works!! How is asking your blog friends to vote for you any different then buying your friends a drink in gratitude. emily asked ppl to vote ON HER BLOG and its a BLOGGING CONTEST!!! she has so many followers of her own blog how many other girls had that network of support? stop with the bitter already…… stop w/ the jealousy….. Emily you won this fair and square and WE LOVE YOU!
2- Obviously others are just sore losers, Emily. You did an amazing job at getting your story out there. You absolutely deserved to win this contest
1- I voted for Emily every single day, and not ONCE did she offer any sort of payment for me to vote. I voted because she’s an amazing woman who would do the exact same thing for me. Emily has a HUGE group of friends and blog followers that supported her throughout this process, voting every single day. She won this contest fair and square.
If by ‘buy’ you mean ‘win everyone over with her sweetness and actually use this platform as an opportunity to make friends’…?
I’m glad to see that not everyone is taking this result as a chance to libel and attempt to hurt Emily. She won this fair and square, and I’m sure she’d be the first to wish the rest of the contestants a wonderful wedding.
Well done, EJ. Totally deserved it :)
I feel very strongly that the comments on this post (and replies to Bravo) are a huge indicator of Emily’s friends and blog following.
Girlfriend can WRITE, and promote, and encourage, and the blogging community is a POWERFUL thing.
Good for you, love, for winning.
The other writers put together beautiful posts, and congrats to them for coming this far and working so hard.
Well said everyone. Never underestimate the power of the blogosphere. Emily is part of an amazing online community and one of my favorite writers and she puts an awful lot of good energy out into the world and deserves to win this. Keep your head up Em!
So sad to see someone resorting to pathetic attempts at bringing other people down. When your intent on trying to hurt someone in public, it says a lot about your character. too bad the internet isn’t patrolled a bit better so we didn’t have to dealwith unwarranted spitefulness.
Nobody here cares about the haters, sore losers, or friends of the above. It was clear from the start the amount of support Emily had and her posts were thoughtful, fun, inspiring & graceful. Congratulations Emily on winning, please ignore the morons who are obviously enraged with jealousy!
Congrats Emily!
And to those being negative: I, for one, need no incentive to vote daily for one of my favorite bloggers! Emily’s an incredible writer (have you read her personal blog too?! she’s fantastic!) and so very sweet and kindhearted. And speaking of that, keep in mind she’s a seasoned blogger outside of the Weddingbells contest, so has a blogosphere following attached to that. Don’t underestimate the numbers in our little blogging community. ;)
Emily didn’t BUY votes, and the ridiculousness of your claim floors me almost as much as your cowardice in hiding behind aliases and posting publicly in an endeavor to hurt somebody. Must be nice to know you’re such a decent person. The prize was well deserved, and the blogging community is HUGE, which was proved from the start. I personally love being part of it and seeing people from all across the world band together to support a cause, or someone they care about. Like Emily, who’s a great writer, a great person, and deserves this 100%. Please go away and stop polluting the internet.
Yay, yay, yay! Just ignore all the ignorant haters out there, Emily! You did it! Way to go, you!! :D
Wow. Harsh, much? Yeah, she had a small giveaway on her own blog – nothing was mentioned about her giveaway on the Wedding Bells site. It was something she offered to her network, and from the number of votes she received compared to the number of people who entered the giveaway – totally different. She offered it as a bonus to people who voted. From what I understand, the other girls aren’t bloggers – Emily is, and that means she has a MUCH larger pool of potential voters to tap, compared to the others.
Congratulations, Emily. You deserve it! :)
Emily, you put a lot of work into it. You deserved to win. Screw ‘em. I’m glad the win went to someone who knows how to lose graciously if it had been the case. If hate mail is how they deal with losing, then they’re losers in more than just the contest.
Bravo, I doubt that’s the last time you’ll be reading the comments/replies. And if that’s honestly the case, then you’re a wimp, leaving a message like that and leaving. There’s a difference between purchasing your votes, and being creative with both exploring the exploding viral/social push and making a fun contest out of it. And I really doubt any contest she put on won any more than a few votes. I read through all of the bloggers entries, and there was a great effort put on by almost everyone. Emily has the social network to her advantage, and she hasn’t even been too ‘in your face’ about it, which is why she hasn’t lost any followers in the process. I, for one, do not appreciate people wrongfully winning votes by unfair procedures – but I haven’t seen anything wrong done here. It was fair from the start, and she won. I’m sorry to hear anyone’s getting “hate” mail from this whole thing. It was a crazy, exhausting contest for most of the contestants. I spoke with 2 of them and I know what was involved in getting any votes, not to mention the commitment to blogging for months. Congrats to everyone who took part, and congrats to Emily for winning.
emily don’t listen to the haters they’re just jealous you had so much support! to heather and kier and lisa i am totally with you, had my friends and colleagues voting for emily every day for the whole thing. and your right she definately had a lot of support from the start. so happy for you emily you deserve this, we all loved your posts. too bad there are people out there who have nothing better to do than be so mean. theyre just jealous of your happiness and VERY deserved success and clearly youare the better person, don’t let it get you down!
Such a shame that people need to try and ruin this for a well-deserving winner. We all voted for Emily fair and square and she had the support of the blogging community from the start as anyone can see from the comment count she had the whole time. We all voted honestly, glad to see (though highly doubt) this was your “last post”, go and complain to someone who actually cares. Your jealousy and terrible attitude won’t be missed.
The hateful comments need to go away.
Get over it. Emily won because her friends and followers supported her in the best way we could.
If you don’t like it, go complain on a private blog where people care.
Congrats again Emily!
Why is it that people are so incapable of being pleased for another person’s successes?
Ignore the negativity Emily, this was a well deserved win, you need only look at all the love and congratulations here to see that the support was genuine, regardless of a minority opinion.
Much love to you.
Kier (One of many who voted through love and support, rather than the cynical reasons given by some.)
Was going through previous posts and found this, why did weddingbells delete it? AFRAID OF THAT THE PUBLIC WILL KNOW THAT THEY ALLOWED A CONTESTANT TO BUY PEOPLE’S SUPPORT TO WIN? IS THAT PART OF THE CONTEST RULES???! HOW LOW.
say what you want…but to support a person who has to buy people’s support is just sad. but oh well, i guess that’s how the world works today, you have to give something to get something. keep believing she “earned” it if that’s what makes you all sleep better at night. this has nothing to do with me being a sore loser, it truly doesn’t matter to me who won BUT the way this was won is what really gets me upset. and yes i may not be posting my name, and really…i could put any name up there in that box and how would your really know if that is my real name? use your common sense. it still doesn’t change the fact that i SPEAK THE TRUTH. defend it all you want, it just proves how shady and dishonest this world is becoming.
On a different note, congrats to all the other girls who did it HONESTLY AND FAIRLY and busted their butts. You all deserve it so much more.
Feel free to post your angry replies to this message, this is the last time i’ll be on this site so i won’t be seeing them anyway.
Congrats to the 2 of you! Well done and well deserved!
Congrats Emily! And congrats to all the other bloggers, it’s finally over!
Dear vicki, no need for harsh words, who wouldn’t be jealous of a FREE trip to Mexico!!?
woohoo! congrats em :)
and congrats to the other finalists for making it through to the last round!
Yay, congrats Emily, hope winning this contest will help make your whole wedding experience even more special than it already is, you deserve it x
Well done Em, you’ve worked hard for this and it’s great that so many people have supported you.
To those that are being hateful about your win (luckily I haven’t seen anything on here) they are just jealous – come on, you’re getting a lovely honeymoon in Mexico and they aren’t!
Woo-hoo!!! Yayyy!!! I’m sooo excited for you Emily! Horray!! <3
So excited for you, Emily! :)
[does a happy dance] way to go blogosphere and way to go em <3
well done emily! very excited for both of you!
Very well done Emily. Your posts were fabulously written and your graciousness just goes to show the prize went to the right person. I hope you and David enjoy a lovely trip and wishing you best of luck in your upcoming wedding. You will be a beautiful bride. Congratulations to all the other contestants as well. It has been a very interesting, informative and entertaining journey following you all along. Best of luck to all.
[...] past week has just CRAWLED by, but yesterday, the results were officially announced. WE DID IT!!! We’re going to one of the top 100 resorts in the WORLD – I can’t even begin to [...]
Wow… is the only word I am capable of right now!! I cannot thank you all enough for your AMAZING help and support in this incredible journey! I seriously can’t even begin to describe how much I appreciate each and every single one of you who’ve supported me and voted every day, read and commented from the very beginning, helped me poster, flyer, and put up with my nerdiness as well as shameles self promotion!! So many of you plugged away every single day, got your family and friends and even coworkers on board, and no words I could write in this little space could ever come CLOSE to doing justice to how much your support has meant the whole way along – not just through the voting periods, but through all the posts as well – you’ve read and helped and offered encouragement and kindness throughout the journey, even the BOYS jumped in, even people who have zero interest in weddings made time to follow me along until the very end. I can’t believe how incredibly brilliant you all are – I am SO lucky to be part of such an amazing and supportive community!
I am literally still in shock. For so long I was in such a bad place – with bad guys, who did a lot of damage, with bad people, with no self esteem at all, and for a long time I really felt like I had nothing to offer the world. I never dreamed the day would come where I’d meet not only the man who’d bring me love and happiness, but teach me to follow my dreams, believe in myself, and put myself out there. It was thanks to him I started writing, and thanks to writing I got into the contest, and into blogging, where I was lucky enough to meet such an amazing online community full of wonderful, incredibly supportive people.
I have to apologise for the copious levels of sap here but I honestly feel blessed to be part of this incredible network of bloggers and friends – so many of you have been there for me when things are rubbish, cheering me on when things are going well, and believing in me when I couldn’t do it for myself. Some of my closest friendships started through blogging and for everything this community is, I am truly thankful. You are seriously the BEST TEAM EVER, and I am so very lucky to be part of this incredible community.
A huge thank you to all of you, and to the Weddingbells staff for giving me this opportunity in the first place and being such a joy to work with. And lastly, to the other finalists – your stories have been so exciting and inspiring, and I wish you all the very best on your wedding day, in your marriages, and a lifetime of love and happiness with your new husbands :)
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!
EFF YEAH! Congrats!
