Luxurious Affair

wbjune09_ceremony

I just returned from the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman from a luxury wedding business symposium called Engage!09 (hosted by the fabulous Rebecca Grinnals), and spent a few days among some of the wedding “greats” like designer extraordinaire, Preston Bailey; cake guru, Sylvia Weinstock; and the editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings, Darcy Miller (to only name a few of the talented attendees). State of Mind

A good attitude is the most important ingredient when planning your destination wedding. The saying that “nothing is perfect” stands true to any wedding, but you need to be even more open-minded and realistic when planning your destination wedding. Read the rest of this entry »

Beach BBQ

The classic DW reception dinner is an outdoor beach BBQ. It’s fun, casual and in the spirit of the location. Often said brides and grooms are seeking the most unique and “different” things to do for their wedding (and I’m always all for unique), but sometimes it’s just worth sticking with something that works. I just returned from South Beach this past long weekend and had a relaxing stay at The Setai hotel (setai.com). LUXE had planned Shelly and Ben’s last minute “switch” wedding at this Miami hot spot only a few weeks ago, and I can honestly say that this is a phenomenal location for a wedding. The hotel is architecturally stunning, and it exudes a very Zen vibe throughout. Read the rest of this entry »

The Caves: A Romantic Escape

One of my favourite hotels is The Caves in Negril, Jamaica. It’s a perfect place for an all-property buyout (think: total privacy and a resort all to yourself!) and a romantic, unique wedding choice for couples seeking something a bit different than the norm. The Caves is part of the Island Outpost family of hotels and it’s charming, quirky and the farthest thing from mass market. Read the rest of this entry »

Benches are the New Chair

Watch out chairs, benches are making their mark on ceremony decor at destination weddings. Specifically, wooden benches are the newest trend for ceremonies. Benches are a fun way to add a new “look” to your celebration. This is something to consider if you’re tired of the chair covers or Chivari chair look. Read the rest of this entry »

Talk about the ultimate snag in Destination Wedding plans—the Swine Flu! LUXE has been working in overdrive helping dozens of clients slated to be married in Mexico in May either move or reschedule their weddings! Understandably, brides and grooms have been hit hard trying to figure out what to do. Read the rest of this entry »
