Bridal Makeup Tutorial

In the early stages of wedding planning I made a decision on something that seemed outrageous to some: I’ve decided to do my own wedding day makeup. How can I possibly have the courage to endeavour such a huge task? Simple: I enjoy and am actually obsessed with makeup application and products. This is kind of ironic and I’ll tell you why. Growing up in a predominately male family (two brothers and many male cousins), I was the girl that wore ripped jeans, T-shirts and runners and could be found chasing after my older brother: climbing trees, playing sports on the street and being the dummy for him to practice his wrestling moves on. Who would’ve thought that I would grow up loving anything remotely girly? You also couldn’t tell from looking at me that I enjoy playing with makeup since I run out of the house most days wearing glasses and not even a smidge of foundation. I’m not sure when I first became interested in makeup but I do know when it turned into an obsession—the year my BFFs gave me a M.A.C. gift card for my 20-something birthday. Ladies, I blame this all on you! Hehe, LOVE YOU! Read the rest of this entry »

Saying *sniffsniffBAWL* to the Dress

"Head light" dress – LOL!

"Head light" dress – LOL!

One week after the Wonderful Wedding Show, on a beautiful winter morning, my girls and I (minus my mom because she was close to tears at the wedding show and couldn’t do it again) found ourselves at L.A. Collection—our first stop in my hunt. Julie, our consultant for the day, already had a dressing room ready—she had the dress I tried on at the Wonderful Wedding Show as well as a few dresses she pulled that were similar to that dress. Girls present: maid of of honour (MOH), my three best friends, my daughter and sister-in-law. Read the rest of this entry »

The Wonderful Wedding Show & a Tribute

WBFeb10_flowers

Centrepiece #1

What is more exciting and fun than meeting your girlfriends to go shopping? Meeting your girlfriends to go shopping for your wedding! Winnipeg’s Wonderful Wedding Show was held January 16 and 17 where wedding products and service vendors from all over Winnipeg and surrounding areas came together under one roof to provide brides and grooms a one-stop shop for all their wedding needs. Where do I look first?? There’s so much to see!! The day we went, our main goal was to check out what was available for the groomsmen’s tuxedos, gather some decoration inspiration and scope out some florists. The guys’ searching started and ended about as quickly as the flavour lasts in a gumball—not very long. Their only dilemma: bow ties or regular ties. I’m not sure how serious they were about the bow ties (I’d prefer regular ties) although knowing what a lively bunch the guys are, I wouldn’t be too surprised if they showed up in T-shirts with a tuxedo design and top hats. Ha ha!

The Wonderful Wedding Show was a great experience and so much fun. But now I need help!! Do I nix my first centrepiece idea with ideas I got from the show or do I keep my original idea? Which one do you like?

Go Big or Go Home!

WBJan10_veil

Big—it depends on who you talk to. Some say the bigger the better while others say that the smaller the more intimate.  I was originally hoping for small and intimate but I ended up with a big one—wedding party and guest list of course! What did you think I was talking about? Ha ha!

Not only is “Go Big or Go Home” my future hubby’s motto—it also refers to the size of our wedding party and guest list. Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome to My World of Simplistic Chaos

Dream Day

JudithMy name is Judith Manzano and I would be the perfect “Bride Again” candidate. My fiancé and I have been together for eight years and was recently engaged in Las Vegas on July 22. We have yet to set the details but we have begun contacting venues and can hopefully find one that will host 250-300 guests, fall of 2010. Read the rest of this entry »
