Skip the Service
Q: Can I skip the wedding service at the church and just go to my friend’s reception?
A: Many couples will include two invitations when inviting guests to their wedding: one to the ceremony and one to the reception. It is expected that some guests may attend the reception but not the ceremony and vice versa, which is why RSVP’ing is so important. The best thing to do if you cannot attend a wedding ceremony but intend to go to the reception is to ask the bride or groom personally if this is OK. You should also make a note when you RSVP that you intend to go to the reception only. It’s likely the bride and groom will be happy you can attend the reception even if you cannot make it to the ceremony.
