Punk Rock Pretty
Q: We are having a punk rock themed wedding, and I am looking for a dress that would fit the criteria. When I search the Internet all I ever get is goth dresses. Is there anywhere that I can find a good dress?
A: Finding an original wedding gown can be difficult, especially if you’re looking for something a bit more edgy. An important thing to keep in mind is that your dress doesn’t have to be strictly designated as a wedding gown. I would check out Wai Ching Clothing (wai-ching.com), Fashion Crimes in Toronto (fashioncrimes.ca), and you can always look around on Etsy to find a vintage or handmade gown (etsy.com). For style ideas, you might want to visit offbeatbride.com—the sister site to Ariel Meadow Stallings’ book of the same name. Offbeat Bride also lists a number of vendors for dresses (and suits for your groom). If you’re trying to avoid looking too goth, why not opt for a cutting-edge dress in a bright colour instead of a dark one, or jazz up a semi-traditional dress with a brightly coloured veil? Finally, if you are still having trouble finding what you want, you can always consider getting a gown custom-made.
