Dress to Impress
Q: My daughter’s wedding colours are ivory and apple green for the attendants. The groom’s mother has already chosen a dress in burgundy. What colours would go with the colour theme for a late summer wedding? I have red hair and fall colours suit me best—I want to look like a queen for my princess!
A: Traditionally, it is passé for the mother of the bride to wear a dress that is similar in style and colour to the bridesmaids’. Although this rule of thumb still stands, exceptions need to be made where necessary. With red hair and the time of year that the wedding is taking place, an elegant green dress would look rich and complement the wedding’s colour scheme. If the wedding sits on the border of summer and fall, you could even try something in a navy. Navy is a very easy colour to match to most complexions and hair colours.
